Many consider Rod Laver to be one of the greatest if not greatest player in the game. But in typical modesty, when asked if he is the Greatest Player of All Time (GOAT), Rod answered, politely, 'It's so difficult to compare different generations of players. I'd rather think of it in terms of greatest of your era.'
This will give you insight into the way the game operated before professional tennis become open to ALL players in 1968, and then, it captures that magical year Laver had in 1969.
For any fan who loves this game, this account written with the help of the legendary Bud Collins, will give you insight into a much different world than all the glitz and glamor of the current tour.
