My 5-year-old LOVES this letter stamp set and has been finding every excuse to use them (signs, letters, stories, etc.). He can't wait for the lowercase set to arrive so he can play with those, too.
We had wooden scrapbooker-style stamps before, but they were too small and cumbersome for small hands (heck, even for my adult-sized hands). These stamps are big, but not so big as to be unwieldy. Pure GENIUS to make these transparent so that kids can see what they're stamping, and more genius still to leave the sides of the stamps open so that kids can loop their fingers through.
My only wish is that the stamps were color-coded the way Educational Insight's letter magnets are: with red vowels and blue consonants.
I am also a special education teacher and can't wait to oder some for my classroom. I have worked with a few students who struggle with the fine motor skill of writing and it is holding them back in learning to spell. This would definitely help! It is unlike anything I have ever seen: they are clear so the students work on correct spacing, the rubber is only on the letter so there is no ink box around the letter, and punctuation marks (period, comma, question mark, and exclamation mark) are included for sentence creation.
I also use the stamps at home with my children. Since the base is clear plastic and can be seen through, it is easy to line up the stamp on lined paper to create messages on lined paper or practice spelling words in a fun way. We've also used them to help my children learn how to read and write their name. The only limitation to the functionality of these stamps is your creativity! They were a great investment!
