Very cool projects

This is a really nice little kit. Load of pieces to make 13 different solar powered robots. I'm working on recording a build-process video at the moment, too. The robot on the front of the box is very similar to one made by Discovery that costs more than this kit on its own. Good deal!

Plastic is pretty solid. Definitely need some flush-clippers to take it to pieces. It's going to be difficult for younger kids, for sure. Probably be good for ages 10 and up, though. Will be taking this to my STEM program for upper elementary students.

Directions are well documented. See the pictures I attached for an example. The directions are pretty easy to follow and the pictures are great. Should be a cinch for anyone used to building a model kit.

So far, I've started on the crab walker, and it is going together really well. I'll update this review with the video once I'm finished editing!

I bought this STEM toy for my 9 yr. old grandson for Christmas and he loves it. I was only with him on Christmas eve when he opened this, and he wanted to start working on it right then and there. His mom & dad told him to wait and put it together a day or 2 after Christmas (his Christmas break.) I didn't get to see the finished product(s) but his mom said since Christmas he has made 4 different versions of his robot and loves this gift. Based on the # of parts, I think this is best suited for kids 7 or older (although I'm no expert on age vs. toys). My grandson called me while I was writing this review to tell me he just made his 6th version and he loves it! Made my happy to know I finally found a gift he would really like!

My son likes all kind of puzzles and robots , hence this looks like a perfect gift for him.
This would be his first build your own robot kit. It seems a bit intimidating at first when we opened the box since there are a lot of small model parts. But the robot kit included 9 small ziplock bags for our convenience to sort out all the parts before any assemblings. This is very thoughtful and make all the future clean up easier.
The instructions seem clear. It also illustrates what not to do , it'll cause less frustration for any robot building novice like my son.
13 difference kind of robots could be built from this robot kit. It would keep my son occupied during the holiday season!!!

I bought this for my kids. They loved it right away, arranging the pieces and parts. Overall, the toy was great and my kids had a great time. There Are many different project that they can build. I really want to develop a side of their brain that you can’t develop from using an iPad. Mechanics, electricity and motor skills are really useful in life, and at a minimum, will make them more resilient when they are older. The kit has a ton of pieces, so keeping them organized is crucial. For adults that aren’t “mechanically inclined”, this will be a good project for you as well to do with your children.

My 9 year old asked for legos for Christmas. We have plenty of those but she loves to build things. I ran across this robot and knew it would be a perfect Christmas present! You can build 13 different ones and its solar powered. It says ages 10+ but I'm pretty sure she will be able to do it herself without any issue.

The robots you are able to build range from a dog that can wag its tail to a boat that actually goes in the water. Seriously how exciting is that compared to expensive lego kits that you build once and that's about it! This would also be great for homeschool students! Hands on and kids learn so much more. Even a fun STEM gift for a classroom.

Low quality product, hard to assemble

Our 10 year old is very much into stem and we figured we can take a chance on this to see if he likes it. Although the parts are fairly easy to identify on the stencils with corresponding letters and numbers other parts are unmarked. Some of the parts are difficult to attach and require so much force to fit correctly that our 10 yeal old needed help constantly to the point i finished the build for him. Theres no battery and therefore the motor relies on solar energy only, this means indoor play is impossible and even outdoor is troublesome depending on weather conditions. An overall disappointment and we will look for something else.

Perfect for Those getting into Robotics

My niece is just now getting into robotics and we had a lot of fun putting this together. She is 7 and this is just a little out of her reach to do on her own but with adult assistance she had no problem following the visual instructions and getting the robot put together. The package says for 10 and up and with some of the smaller parts I can see why they set this age. Make sure you have a good knife or clippers to get the parts out. I will be looking for other similar kits in the future!

Great concept, poor quality and design

We loved the idea of this gift but unfortunately I would not recommend it.
1. the parts have very rough ends after cutting them from the frames and need to be reworked (sanded) for better look and fit
2. the motor is extremely undersized: In order for it to move the gearbox I had to painfully prepare the parts (as indicated above) and lube the gears and axles. Once you connect the gearbox to your creation, it can hardly move
3. the solar cell is undersized: it barely works in full sun, it won't work indoors.

Bottom line, after a lot of work, your robot won't move.

Brought as a present so it hasn't been build yet. But what I will say is we brought a similar one a few weeks ago and the quality was very poor. This set looks so much better, the plastic parts feel strong and much thicker. This kit has sticker and spare bags for parts the other one didn't. Cant wait to try this out with my son. I will update my review with pictures when we build it. Delivery was great, packaged well and came very quickly. The last one I brought was not even boxed they stuck the address lables over the actual product! I'm very happy this time.

Bought this as an early Christmas present but..... it was so goon once the kids saw it we had to get it out. Really good and easy to put together with excellent step by step instructions. We had great fun putting the bits together and watching the motions, especially this weekend in beautiful sunshine. Really useful to to get our young people into STEM , highly recommended.

A gift for a 9 year old boy is great. The child not only develops technical thinking, but also finger motor skills. There are, of course, moments where adults need help. The quality is excellent. The instruction is clear even to a child. Great stuff. and most importantly, the robot turned out to be excellent but with work salary batery problems. Robot not worked. We waited when batery will loaded, but robot not working. Sad.
