Im not a review critic, nor am I a technician with pros and cons providing you with studies made in a lab etc. etc.
I wanted a mic that could give me a excellent audio at close range avoiding the eco that an enclosed room might produce or if I had my iPhone far away I could still obtain audio like if I was near the subject and also to reduce noise background if doing interviews in a crow. This mic does an excellent job for its size, I couldnt believe it. This mic competes very well with "professional" mics costing hundreds of dollars. I would recommend this product. One more thing. The mic does not come with a cord, you must buy one. Amazon recomends one for it which I find way to expensive and it is only 3ft long, Yes, this extension provides manual volume control and a "jack" for you to plug in your own headphones so you can monitor the audio going into your system. In my case, I dont need any of that and so I bought a 6ft 3way extension at walmart for 1/3 less than the one offer at Amazon.

I used it twice, and on the second time the tip (ground) was left behind in the jack. I don't know if this affects the quality of audio or not, but I have noticed some major audio clipping during recordings. I will post a picture of the issue.

Without the extension cable (sold separately) you can't monitor what the microphone is picking up because it plugs into and thereby blocks the headphone output on the iPhone. Also the mic becomes part of the phone and is not very useful except as the ad says to measure levels while recording on a recording app's metering. With the extension cable, this mic becomes a lavalier mic with extended reach and a level control on the cable. Plus there's a jack for your headphone or earbuds. This makes the mic much more versatile and it can even be used to make phone calls with much sweeter audio.

The tip pin (which extends to the body of the mic) got stuck in an iPhone and detached from the mic body he very first use. Sound quality is okay, but this is a serious design flaw.

I use this for remote podcasting, video marketing and video testimonials. I do voice over and have several professional level mics that are just not practicle for location working. I was very surprised at the quality of this tiny mic. It has clear full sound and I have not been disapointed by the quality once. This works great on my Samsung S and S2. I have used on an iPhone 4 as well with equally good results. Other inexpensive clip ons do not compare to this mic. Be careful though it is very small and can get lost easily. I would suggest buying the control cord if you want the best sound.

First off, it works with my HTC Thunderbolt 4G. No problems what so ever with that model or Android. HTC doesn't need to be broken. I have to make sure that the app I use is set to use the correct mic, but that's and app issue. Now, as for the quality-its much better than using the build in mic. I want to test it at a live event to see what gain I need to use. Here alone it works well with speech. Long distances it is about the same response as the built in mic. You're going to have to know that it will pick up closer sounds easier than distance sounds. There is some compression/clipping at levels that exceed the yellow (as would be on an audio board). You have to turn up the gain (if the app has that capability) as the volume response is about the same as the built in mic. However, the ability to capture better sound is there. this mic definitely has better capture range and recording quality. If you are looking at a mic that captures more volume, this isn't it, but if you want better quality, it works great. I would day 1-10 its about a 5 or 6 where the internal mic is about a 2 to 3.

Tried to use with the iPad (4) and was unable to tell the difference when microphone was plugged in and when it was taken out during a recording. I was very disappointed and really wanted the product to work as I had hoped. Was trying to get greater range using a small, plug in microphone.

This fits perfectly for the input headset jack on the IPhone. It has the TRRS rings which are the only ones that will enable the head phone jack to take in quality video. And not only is this mic crisp and clear and wonderful on it's own, but you can add the ESL-001 which is the lapel mic wire and clip the microphone in and you have a kick ass lavaliere microphone too. The end of the ESL-001 also fits right in the Iphone's headset input. One of my best buys!
