It seems I received a counterfeit item.
1) The blade exposure is very clearly uneven (I've shown this in one of my photos)
2) The embossed "EDWIN JAGGER" letters are very dirty; they are not etched cleanly.
3) The letter "E" is not even fully etched

When you receive your item, be sure to check for these signs. Very disappointed.

I know if you’re like me, you read these reviews with a grain of salt. People complain about the littlest things. But I had to leave a review since the razor is now useless. Everything about the appearance and opereration of the razor was great. However only after two years the screw mechanism that connects the handle to the part that holds the blade has stripped. And the razor assembly won’t hold itself together. I made a point of drying the complete assembly EVERY time I used it. And I didn’t use it often, only on specaial occasions when I wanted a closer shave.

If I felt in any way that it was user error or because of my carelessness I wouldn’t leave a bad review. But in this case I feel I must. I have my fathers razor that’s 60 years old that still works fine, this one should have lasted more then two years.

Definitely Disappointed.

Just buy it. I'm a beginner DE razor user. Tried the amazon #1 option butterfly open Weishi cuz i was scared i would cut myself like an idoit with a screw on top and didn't want to shell out to try this. After a month of mutilating myself with that I purchased this. I've shaved with it 4 times and I can't even begin to explain the difference. I have a super sensitive neck, very prone to razor burn. This thing is effortless to use in comparison to the Weishi. Mild shave, but so much more forgiving. I can actually feel the guard doing something with this one and finding the proper shaving angle is cake. It comes with derby blades which are good, but I find I prefer the Astra greens with this. Granted those are the only two I've tried :).

Seems to be the real deal packaging looks authentic. Couldn't be happier with the purchase.

I'm not a fan of disposable items, including razors. Over the years, I've used cartridge-type men's razors (I'm female) & they've been OK. But the manufacturers churn out redesigned razors which use cartridges that don't fit older razors. That means the older style cartridges become hard to find & ever more expensive. So shifting to a DE safety razor, with less of a throw-away factor & a standard blade design, had a lot of appeal.

I bought the Edwin Jagger "Heather" (rolling my eyes a bit at the pastel lavender) -- the slightly longer handle seemed like it would be useful for leg shaving.

The razor seems to be high quality & I've been happy with the shaving results. But I find the handle to be problematic -- it is just SO slippery. And it is still rather short, when it comes to shaving legs.

Many comment on the sleek look of this razor. Nothing wrong with a sleek look (though I'd personally skip pastel colors), but I'd trade that for a non-slippery handle any day.

Tips for the beginner who wants to try wet shaving for the first time:
Go buy a 1 or 2 blade cartridge razor(enough for practice) and a good shaving cream or sope(like Proraso, can provide maximum protection to your face). Get used to it before switching to a double edge safety razor. This step will at least prevent most of the injury to your face when you learning wet shaving.

Storytime:
I used dollar shave club's razor for almost 2 years, but almost everytime I shave, I will found some blood point on my face after shaving(around 3-4). Also, use cartridge razor is hard to shave body hair efficiently, the hair will stuck between blades and I need to rinse it every stroke. So one day, I decided to change to safety razor(I don't even know why I come up this mind). It's signal blade, sharper, I can use double side at once, and the blade is way cheaper than a cartridge razor.

I admit I bought it partially because it looks good （from a 20+ year-old "kids" perspective.）But actually, it's very good. The handle provides a good amount of weight (not super heavy). I bought ASTRA Platinum fur my blade choice, and it is fantastic. The first-day shave, I only get 2 blood point, using the same shaving gel that I used to shave with dollar shave club's (It's not a good choice, I know)...So later I bought the Proraso shaving soap, the green one.
Shave the body hair is also very easy, I can put multiple strokes before I rinse it, and hair would not be stuck inside the razor. After shaving, no a single injury.

Tow words: Smooth, Comfi.

Only cons: can't bring the safety blade into the carry on luggage. As I'm an international student, I need to travel back and forth to the States and back to my home country every year.

Gillette - The worst a man can get

Since Gillette decided to insult me just by being a man, then it was time to find another shaving product.
Although the weight of the product will be of some use getting used to, you realise how after all these years Gillette have been duping customers with what is nothing more than a cheap, plastic disposable razor.

To boot the factory is located in Sheffield so you will be supporting a locally produced British industry, rather than some faceless corporation shamelessly trying to make some political point other than just selling me a product.
I will now be looking at other Proctor & Gamble products to boycott. One word of advice for these faceless corporations - don't ever tell me that it is wrong to be who I am.

I spent a long time reading about these razors and the benefits of females using them over the mainstream brands e.g. Gillette. I was very sceptical, but also sick to death of paying ridiculous sums of money for blades every month so I decided to give this double edged razor a go. Firstly, it is a lovely weight and looks great in the bathroom. The replacement blades can be bought very cheaply £6-8 for 20 - just shop around and research to find the right blade for you. Each blade lasts approximately 4 shaves (underarms + legs) and to replace you simply twist the handle whilst carefully holding the head - so easy!

I read a lot of articles before using my razor for the first time and my advice is, don't overthink it. Just shave as you did before, but bear in mind that your blade is going to be a lot sharper than before so be careful when shaving around the ankles, knees etc. You must use a decent gel/foam, to allow the blade to glide as the razor has no lubrication strips and yes I found this out after nicking myself a few times! But I can honestly say that I am getting a VERY close shave and consequently am shaving less than I did before.

If you are sick of paying over the odds for replacement razor heads, then give this wonderful double edged razor a go :)

Converted to DE shaving after 20 Years

I would like to share my experience that can help others. Actually, I was living with ingrown hair issues on the neck area from the time I started shaving in 20 years ago. Tried some traditional remedies & recently came accross DE Shaving that helped some shavers with ingrown hair problem.

So, I started with (Merkur Futur) but that wasn't for me, too aggressive & dangerous. Then tried this one (Edwin Jagger - Knurled), it did help but it's not as aggressive as it should be for my thick hair type. So, neck area was left with redness, rashes.

Then I bought another brand (Merkur 34C), that was just perfect for face Shave. But again that wasn't for head shaving & few times I cut myself really badly. In my experience, Edwin Jagger is good for (Head shaving) as it is less aggressive & shaves without cuts.

I am now converted to DE Shaving for life & use both these Brands for Head & Face Shaving.

I also bought (Anself - Alloy Razor Stand) as shown in the picture, that has a wide mouth for holding most of the safety Razors.

Please note, it's my personal experience with my skin type. It may help you in understanding what's better for you.

Va benissimo anche per gambe, ascelle e perfino zona bikini (anche se ammetto quest'ultima sembra avventata all'inizio). Non l'ho trovato più o meno rischioso di un normale rasoio usa e getta, anzi mi sembra più delicato sulla pelle essendo una sola lametta, che è pure facile da pulire a fondo visto che è smontabile.
Ha bisogno di un po' di pratica all'inizio per abituarsi a non dare alcuna pressione e a seguire le curve della pelle, ma dopo solo tre usi vado tanto sicura quanto andavo con quelli usa e getta.
È un buon investimento, sia dal punto di vista economico che ecologico, oltre ad essere un oggetto davvero elegante.

I wanted to get a few weeks of use before leaving a review, as I am new to DE Safety Razors.
As a newbie I had some reading up to do: closed/ open combs, manufacturers, handle length etc.

The Edwin Jagger had tonnes of glowing reviews and was stated as a good 1st razor.
This "Kelvin" special Amazon edition with the knurled chrome handle looked really handsome and was super affordable.

Installing a blade is really straightforward, and it came with 5 individual Derby blades which I get amazing shaves from. I would recommend checking out some YouTube videos like the GeoFatboy channel, for advice on angle to the skin, how best to prep your face, the whole idea of doing passes at different angles to deal with the hairs that grow at different angles. Was all new to me.

The unit has a pleasant weight and the short handle makes it so easy to flip and maneuver. The knurling let's you get a nice grip.
You dont press in with these, but let the weight of the head glide across the skin.

Now in my 3rd week I am loving the results and grieing more confident and knowledgeable. I used to hate shaving, but now it's a wee quality time-out which I look forward to! And the results are like nothing I've ever experienced - super smooth.

For me, this little beautiful instrument has been a game changer! I simply would not have believed the difference unless I'd bought it and researched technique on YouTube. It feels a million dollars afterwards.

The Kelvin is a marvellous razor, beautifully made and even looks fantastic in the bathroom.
