I bough this primarily to determine what size portable generator I would need to power my house in the event of a power outage. I have been using this for over a year and a half and it has been interesting to see the effects that all of my different appliances draw during different seasons. I have a base load of about 500 watts continuously (even in the middle of the night with all of the regular stuff off). During normal day to day activities, we stay between 1-6 KW. Since I have an electric hot water heater that draws 4500W, when the hot water is flowing, that's when my house jumps to the 5-6k range. The highest I have ever seen my whole house use is 13K when the clothes washer is pulling hot water and electric clothes dryer is running. So, despite all of the electricians trying to sell me a 20KW or larger generator to power my whole house, this device let me be confident in buying a much smaller generator, and just holding off on doing laundry during a power outage. This device easily pays for itself with the savings on being able to confidently buy a smaller generator.

The Kw/h measures is running between 0.50-0.60 Kwh more constantly than if real consumption.
When every appliance, TV, fans etc. are off if registers a 0.50-0.60 KWh.
Comparing to the utility meter it shows a daily consumption of +7.0 to 10.0 Kwh per day.
A disadvantage the item has is that you can't set the day of monthly usage to the power company billing date. I tried by all means possible to contact seller without success. The meter is reading at an error rate of 40-60% more than actual consumption compared to amp meter readings and power company monthly bill.
Real consumption 330 Kwh meter is reading around 550 KWh. I don’t recommend this item.

Whole house electric monitoring system that works

I've ben using this to monitor where my energy costs are going and its easy to tell just by looking at the watt hours you consume. Numbers tell a story! You can go around turning lights on and off, computers, tv's, whatever and see how much something is pulling. How accurate is it?... well I have no scientific tests but from my rough calculation of bulbs installed and when i turn things on and off it seems fairy accurate and at minimum can be used to lower power use in your house. As a side note when I leave something on by accident and I lay down to bed, and i see my house power more than my standby night power (around .5 kwh) I know that I left something on, and then go on the hunt to turn it off. Its made me very aware of what things draw, so don't get this if you get easily obsessed or are a nerd like me. Its definitely saving me money though just leaving devices and lights off that I used to leave on all the time. Definitely worth it.

Great tool. I moved into a new house, had an extremely high electric bill, and couldn't figure out why. Bought the Efergy Elite monitor and installed in on the mains running into my breaker panel. Very easy installation. Then I checked each breaker - and found that one breaker was drawing twice as much electricity as the rest of my house combined. Turns out, a short in my AC unit was sending a lot of electricity to ground, but not enough to trip the breaker. This monitor paid for itself immediately in electric bill savings.

This is a great product to help monitor power consumption of any or all your appliances in the house. I needed to know why my energy use was much higher than everyone around my neighborhood. ComEd came several times but I was not satisfied with their findings. So, I bought and installed the 2 sensors. I’m a Mechanical engineer so opening the main electrical panel was not new to me. But if you’re NOT handy with “electrical”, then get an electrician to install it. It takes no more than 10 minutes. Setup was very easy and once running, I carried the portable monitor around and I could be anywhere in the house and can turn any appliance “on” or “off” and see what that appliance uses... just remember there is a 10-20 sec delay in the signal from the WiFi. I was able to educate myself and my stubborn wife about electrical usage. And now she has a good knowledge how to reduce our electric bill by simple habits because she knows what all of our gadgets in the house consume. I’m on my way to cutting my bills at least 30% or more!!!
As far as “tech” support, I can’t comment because I didn’t need to contact them. The instructions were more than enough for me to make things work.

Works great. Transmitter inside metal breaker box outside and the receiver works flawlessly all over my 2 story 4K sqft house. Does exactly what it advertises that it does. The design and feel of the receiver is nice. One complaint: backlight stopped working on day2. Not worried about it, b/c no backlight means the batteries will last much longer. Can still read the display, just can't read it in the dark any more. Still love it.

I'm buying another one now to read my subpanel (powered from the main panel, but with two units I can monitor both primary panel and secondary panel separately. You could also connect this to any pair of breakers you wanted to monitor. Doesn't have to be the main line. Say you want to know just how much your washer or any 120v or 240v appliance is using. You can connect to that for a day/week/month and see.

We enjoy using this measuring current device. Now I can see the impact of various units on the power draw. But be very wary of the ideal installation instructions. Most panels do NOT have the main feed cables in an accessible position to install the current coils in the panel. Mine is a 125A panel only two years old. All the meter to panel cables are bare buss bars way in back and sheathed to protect ones fingers. So I had to open the meter side of the panel. Do not do this unless a Certified Electrician as I am. On that side I had plenty of room and it is working fine. My panel is outside on the front corner of the house and the range is just great, no problem

Siccome lavoro nel settore della metrologia elettrica, ho voluto provare quanto fosse precisa la rilevazione della corrente di questo sistema.
Ho quindi utilizzato un generatore di corrente campione a diversi valori di corrente (da 0,6 A a 20 A) e ho potuto rilevare che la misura rilevata è leggermente inferiore al valore reale, e che l'errore medio di misura è inferiore al 3% in tutto il range di misura, con l'errore che aumenta nelle misure inferiori ad 1 A (240 W).
Siccome viene misurata solo la corrente e poi viene effettuata una moltiplicazione per il valore della tensione (impostato sul misuratore) per ottenere la misura della potenza (W=V * I ) per correggere il valore misurato basta aumentare il valore della tensione impostata (dopo averla prima misurata) del 3%.
La tensione di rete nominale in Italia è di 230 V, impostando sul display una tensione di rete di 236 V la misura di potenza risulterà più vicina al valore reale, cosa che ha una certa importanza se si utilizza la funzione di allarme di sovracorrente.

Il misuratore effettua una lettura ogni 10 secondi (modificabile a 15 o 20 secondi), quindi è normale che la lettura non si aggiorni immediatamente appena si attiva un dispositivo sulla rete elettrica.
La soglia di allarme di sovracorrente può essere impostata ad intervalli di 250 W, e avrei preferito un intervallo di 100 W, ma comunque svolge la sua funzione.
L'installazione è velocissima, e non è necessario avere il contatore in casa. Siccome si deve posizionare il sensore solo su un conduttore di alimentazione (che sia fase o neutro, misura lo stesso) potrebbe essere necessario aprire la scatola di derivazione principale, quella con il salvavita dell'appartamento, per poterlo collegare.
La portata del trasmettitore copre di sicuro 7-8 metri, non ho fatto prove a distanze superiori.
Complessivamente un buon prodotto ad un costo contenuto, non è certamente uno strumento di misura, ma permette di tenere sotto controllo i consumi e di evitare che il limitatore dell'impianto intervenga in caso di superamento dei limiti di potenza, che era quello che stavo cercando.
Tenete presente che una pinza amperometrica fatta bene costa oltre 200 euro, quindi le aspettative devono essere sempre correlate a quanto si sta spendendo.

Utilissimo gadget per tenere sotto controllo i consumi elettrici e per essere avvisati nel caso i consumi siano eccessivi è si rischi lo scollegamento del contatore. Stavo per restituirlo perché sembrava che segnasse dei consumi anomali ma alla fine aveva ragione lui..... la lavapiatti aveva la resistenza di riscaldamento difettosa......
Unico piccolo neo è il fatto che la distanza massima di trasmissione è di circa 15 m, dico questo perché ogni tanto perde il collegamento ma poi dopo poco riprende da solo il funzionamento (vivo in un condominio e potrebbe essere disturbato dai molti hot-spot wifi presenti.....)
Informazione tecnica non presente nel manuale : il trasmettitore è impostabile su 3 tempi di aggiornamento 10"{led rosso) ; 15"(led arancione) ; 20"(led verde)

Strumento non adatto a misurazioni precise, io lo utilizzo come allarme per il superamento del consumo elettrico, conviene fare una taratura con il valore rilevato sul display del contatore (Enel per esempio) modificando nel menu, il valore della tensione (220 volt). Per avere a 3500 W lo stesso valore sul contatore (più o meno) ho dovuto impostare 250 volt. L'allarme è abbastanza forte così si può evitare che scatti il contatore spegnendo qualche elettrodomestico per ridurre il consumo.
