Poaching with mold is the better way to cook an egg.
Egg will lose egg white and vitamins when cooked in different ways. When poached in the old fasion way, the egg white will dissolve in water and leave a mess to clean. And with oil and high temperature in frying methods, not only egg loses vitamins but also the cooking process generates dangerous chemicals. Poach with mold is the better way for you to get the most nutrition preservation and have no meesy peeling compared to hard boiling egg.
What is a Poached egg?
A poached egg is an egg that has been cooked by poaching, as opposed to simmering or boiling liquid. This method of preparation is favored for delicate foods that could be damaged by cooking at higher temperatures such as the boiling point of water. The 'perfect' poached egg has a runny yolk, with a hardening crust and no raw white remaining.
Why choose poached egg?
Research at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York indicates that frying or grilling foods at high temperatures can actually produce compounds that may increase body inflammation, which is of special concern to individuals who struggle with arthritis or other inflammatory-type diseases. Poached eggs are prepared with boiling water, which does not produce these inflammatory-causing compounds.
Poaching is the healther way.
Poaching is an indirect, moist-heat cooking method that calls for boiling an egg without its shell. Of the handful of conventional preparation techniques, it ranks as one of the healthiest ways to cook an egg. For about 70 calories, a large poached egg supplies more than 6 grams of high-quality protein, 4.7 grams of mostly unsaturated fat and significant amounts of vitamin D, antioxidant compounds and choline, a nutrient essential to healthy brain function.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2020The Cozilife silicone egg poaching cups will blow your mind with how easy they make poached eggs. In my opinion, the thing that makes this product so great is the paper-thin nature of the silicone cups. The silicone is so thin, it’s like you just tossed the eggs into boiling water by themselves. The thinness of the silicone conducts heat from the surrounding water so well, the eggs might just as well be in the water by themselves. The only difference, of course, is that the silicone cups keep the water away from the eggs, eliminating the “wispiness” of the egg whites that get all over the place, creating a big mess.
This is where I thought these silicone cups would fail, because silicone is often used as an insulator (in pot holders, oven mits, etc.). But in those applications, the silicone is thick and prevents the transfer of heat (or cold, for that matter). These silicone cups are so thin, they do just the opposite (conduct heat), and I only understood that when I took them out of their box. The thinness of the silicone cups doesn’t take anything away from their durability and quality, either.
PLEASE NOTE: you never want to cook poached eggs in hot water at a roiling boil, whether using the traditional method or with these cups. They don't cook any faster and you risk a serious burn.
Instructions:
(1) Spray the inside of the cups with a cooking spray (like PAM).
(2) Place the empty cups into the pan you plan to use.
(3) Fill the pan with water until the cups just barely start to float (an inch or so of water). You may leave the cups in the pan or take them out if this is easier for you.
(4) Heat the water until it just barely begins to boil, then back off on the heat to about Medium. Please note: you never want to cook poached eggs in hot water at a roiling boil, whether using the traditional method or with these cups. They don't cook any faster and you risk a serious burn.
(5) Crack an egg into each cup. Place them in the hot water if you took the cups out in step 3.
(6) Monitor the condition of the yolks by poking them with a sharp knife now and then. You will notice when they reach the consistency you prefer (runny, medium, hard boiled, etc.). Remember, the eggs will continue to cook for the next few minutes, so adjust your timing as required. Cooking will happen rather quickly…no more than three minutes at the most and, more likely, only one or two minutes.
(7) Turn off the heat. I use an induction cooktop, so cooking happened super fast.
Pulling the cups out of the hot water is the trickiest thing about using these silicone egg cups. Unfortunately, this is the only area I cannot give advice on.
UPDATE: After reading a few of the reviews here, I'd have to say that the lady who recommended using a slotted spoon to retrieve the egg poachers out of the hot water, was spot-on. Such a simple, quick and safe solution!
If you find that you’ve gone too far and now have hard boiled eggs (with a firm yolk), you can somewhat compensate for this by placing a dollop of butter into the cup (on top of the cooked egg) and letting it melt there. This will somewhat make up for the creaminess a runnier yolk would have provided. Or maybe you’ll like hard boiled eggs made this way…they’re perfectly acceptable and quite tasty, especially in a breakfast sandwich.
Here’s my own, super-tasty special breakfast recipe: I buy “Texas Toast” (Five Cheese version) from my local Aldi and toast a slice or two in a toaster oven. Then, I place two poached eggs on top of each slice. Add whatever other toppings you like (avocado, etc.). The slightly crunchy texture of the Texas Toast and five cheeses along with the creaminess of the poached eggs topped with salt, pepper and cayenne pepper (and possibly parsley flakes for color), and OMG! What a great tasting breakfast!
All in all, the Cozilife Silicone Egg Poaching Cups make poaching eggs much easier than traditional methods while making much less of a mess. Cleanup is fast and easy. Needless to say, I highly recommend this product.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2024I am hopeless when it comes to poached eggs - I wouldn't even consider trying. Ordered these little silicone poaching cups, and they work relatively well. I only use them in the microwave, why bother with a pan on a stove. My callout is never forget to pierce the egg yolks at least 6 times, and put the poaching cup in a small glass pudding cup. I had a yolk blowout with the egg cup getting turned over and a messy micro..
I adjusted the time of the micro to take into consideration the glass pudding cup was used. I wish they were larger to accommodate larger and XL sized eggs.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2024I wasn’t sure what to expect for microwave poached eggs. These truly produce perfect poached eggs without having to boil water or dirty a pan. I put 2 eggs in the microwave for about 50 seconds to 1 minutes and the photo included is what I get as a result.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2024I loved the idea of these, but the cups 'comfortably' hold medium/small eggs. You can put a large egg in, but they will almost fill the entire cup. The condensed size of the cups also mean longer cooking time (especially on the stovetop) to get to your desired consistency. They are easy to use and easy to clean.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2024I haven't left a review in a while, but this product and its manufacturer motivated me to do so. Excellent packaging, well presentable and with a nice note. Instructions are also included. 30 to 35 seconds in the microwave, and I have a perfectly cooked poached egg. It completely fulfills the purpose for which I acquired it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2023I gave these to my husband for Christmas and well what can I say. They were a hit! Here’s his review:
“ PRODUCT REVIEW: Silicone Egg Poachers by Cozilife. Rating: *****
Having tested them each morning for the past three days I vouch for them. As of today they’re $10.97 on Amazon, give them a try or give as a gift to someone worth $10.97.
USAGE: You spray a little PAM in each one as insurance, crack an egg into each, then float each little egg-silicone boat in a pan of simmering water. Put the LID ON.
The directions say cook at a simmer for 4 minutes. My testing shows eggs cooked in these for that duration will come out cooked but very runny, so have an extra English Muffin handy. If you like your eggs a little less runny, don’t waste your time going to 5 minutes, go to 6. Don’t ask how I know. If you like your yolks creamy yet mostly congealed go to 7. If you like your eggs cooked more than that, you’re a Philistine.
This method is much simpler to pull off than traditional poached eggs, with the additional advantage that no egg is wasted. Plus no need for a ramekin to slide the eggs into the water and no need for vinegar to help them congeal, if that’s a thing for you. Veddy simple.
One last tip — when you remove the lid from the pan at the end of the cook, do it gently and tip the edge out away from the floating egg-silicone boats so you don’t swamp them with water. If the boats do take on a little water you can gently tip the water back out into the pan against the pan edge. Do it carefully, though, the eggs are slippery and will try to jump out as you do this. Have a slotted spoon handy to rescue them if this worries you. And don’t let it worry you, these are just eggs.”
