Koen Martens is a science fiction author and retired hacker with a degree in artificial intelligence. A software architect by day, Koen has worked with quantum computers, lithography machines, cloud servers and many other high-tech gadgets. Koen’s experience lends a great degree of realism to his writing and provides him with a healthy dose of scepticism towards humanity’s unhealthy relationship with technology.

While born in the Netherlands, Koen, together with his husband, now lives in Sweden. In his spare time, he can often be found roaming the woods of Örebro lan (getting lost despite the assistance of gps navigation) or online to stay in touch with his friends from hackerspace Hack42. Koen regularly enjoys live jazz at concerts and festivals, and plays and restores pinball games.

A good science fiction story with well rounded characters and interesting female protagonist but just good nothing outstanding just good

Great for fans of Sci-Fi

There was a bit of a learning curve with this story in the beginning, and the multiple POV's cause a bit of confusion. However, once the story really gets going, it was rather engaging and definitely had you wondering what would happen next. Overall, if you are a fan of sci-fi, you will probably really like this book.

An exciting novel following Paolini's To Sleep Under a Sea of Stars

Sci-fi novels has recently been my binge and The Ein Particle is among one of the books I recommend to beat the summer heat. It's a blockbuster in itself. After finishing Christopher Paolini's Sci-Fi epic, I was craving for more and decided I would read on Koen Marten's tribute to the genre. This was an amazing read, though I find that the cohesion of the storylines (leaping on different time periods) was sort of an EKG reading of tachycardia when it didn't need to be. Nonetheless, the characters are memorable, loveable, and can't wait to see where the next chapter takes this series!

Excellent Sci-fi action tale

This is a powerful, well-developed sci-fi drama. The characters are well defined and the different background venues totally believable. It starts slowly and is full of twists throughout, but keeps the readers' attention consistently. My only complaint is the time jumps that occur at times which (I believe is the author's way to avoid lengthy "dead" periods in the storyline. That I can appreciate, but I found getting back into the storyline after such breaks slightly disconcerting. Overall this is an enjoyable example of true Science Fiction storytelling. I do not believe in reiterating a storyline as I feel it steals from other readers' enjoyment. I encourage any pure sci-fi fan to try this novel. You will surely enjoy jt! I received an ARC and this is my honest appraisal of this book.

As her convictions waver, she decides to flee, only to discover that society is far from the benevolent place she once believed it to be. In a desperate bid to survive, she must hide among the very people she despises.

Overwhelmed with shame and uncertainty, she reluctantly embraces their cause as her own. However, with a relentless pursuer hot on her heels and the threat of war looming between continents, she finds this very hard to do.

Suspenseful, a must read!

Martens captivates with engrossing prose, and rich, multi-dimensional characters, especially the rebellious protagonist, Tlana. The exceptional world-building marries ancient traditions with futuristic tech, delivering a unique, gripping read. Although time jumps can disrupt the flow, it doesn't overshadow the story's brilliance. A must-read for sci-fi fans.
