No BLB and IPS glow is nominal for panel, similar to online reviews. I lowered the brightness and will calibrate with a colorimeter for my room lighting. Gaming at 2560x1440 144Hz is nice, even though I'm using a GTX 1080 with enhanced overdrive and blur reduction, no freesync. Would've like Eizo to support G-sync, but understand added cost on an already pricey brand may not be marketable. I'm not a hard core twitch FPS player anymore and this is a lot better than my older Flexscan monitor. For the hard core FPS gamer, Acer and Asus has more cost effective G-sync options. I've tried gaming at surround 1440/1080/900, but my GTX 1080 card needs to down res or reduce eye candy to play at usable framerates. It is awesome, but jerky(15-20fps) at 7680x1440 with full eye candy settings with Crysis 3. Haven't had time to load Doom on my new machine. 768/720 surround is playable(solid 60fps v-sync) with full eye candy, but lower res doesn't do games justice. Also, I need to update my 27" screens on the wings to better match my center Eizo. Once you experience 144Hz, hard to go back, similar to the CRT days. I may try PG279Qs since they're wing surround monitors and extended desktop in workstation mode, unless I can get a deal on two fs2735s... ;)
If you're spending this much on a screen, you'd better do your research and take my personal comments with a grain of salt. The FS2735 is not perfect, but meets my requirements as a multi-function center screen. TN has never been an option and OLED still needs to prove itself in longevity and burn-in issues. Hard to beat Acer and Asus options on price/performance for a gaming monitor, but for an all-purpose monitor, if it's within your budget, I recommend giving it a chance.
1) The hidden administator menu can be used before booting computer, at windows desktop and when inside a game.
2) Enable the freesync 'low range' (35-90Hz) setting in the hidden menu AND THEN set windows' screen refresh to 90Hz (important).
3) THEN switch to the freesync 'high range' (56-144Hz) setting in the hidden menu AND THEN set windows' screen refresh to 144Hz (important).
The monitor light should now show RED, indicating freesync setup.
Step 2 and 3 is important, because Windows needs to remember its screen refresh setting for each of the two freesync modes.
4) Enable freesync in AMD's Crimson driver.
5) Every game might have its own screen refresh setting in its config files. For Arma 3, that setting is found in the arma3.cfg file. Set value to either 90 or 144Hz. That way, you can easily multitask back into the game, without Windows 7 being weird about it.
Other notes: The brightness for the screen is set individuall, for each mode of viewing (e.g cinema, sRGB, paper, etc).
Update: It seems that Windows remember the refresh rate if switching between the two freesync ranges, but not while playing a game, only at the desktop.
