I was hesitant spending this much on a yoga mat but it has ELEVATED my practice in so many ways. It is just enough grip, it is GORGEOUS and high quality. The natural material is so worth the cost to not be sticking to your mat and it is so comfy and soft for the floor and laying poses. I am 5’7” and have literally never had a mat that is long enough for me — either my feet or head off the mat in certain poses. But this one is actually long enough and I am absolutely obsessed with it. It has actually motivated me to practice yoga more regularly because the aesthetics of it are just that nice!

I have now been using this rug for a couple of weeks and absolutely love it! It arrived nicely packaged in minimal packaging. At first it had a slightly stiffer texture that softened out very well over a couple of weeks, and now is very smooth. Having felt a number of rugs from different companies, this one is by far the nicest texture. There has been some shedding of fibres but this seems normal and is much less now, I imagine in a few weeks there will be none. The plum colour is lovely, and so is the blue, just as they look in pictures. On a standard Manduka mat the rug is about 8 inched longer, so it can overlap the front and the back. Also the company's dedication to ethical and environmental sourcing makes this a really satisfying purchase. I feel like I will have this for a long time and it's great to know that it has been so thoughtfully and kindly manufactured. I really recommend it!

Significantly more money than I wasn’t looking to spend, but this mat is exactly what I was hoping for. I have lapsed from my daily yoga practice. I wanted to create a more inviting yoga experience to get back into my habit.
When I lay this rug over my yoga mat on my wood floor my bedroom is transformed into a warm inviting space to practice.
Mat is a beautiful color and neither too rough or soft. It doesn’t shift when I’m using it and provides enough grip so I can triangle and warrior without slipping.
Wish it was less expensive, however I expect to be using it for many years to come so the price will be ameliorated... eventually.

Ich mochte noch nie so geren diese Plastik-Yoga-Matten, weil ich auf denen immer fürchterlich rutsche, sobald ich ins Schwitzen gerate. Meine letzte Matte war auch aus Baumwolle, wurde aber irgendwann von der Katze annektiert und mutierte zum Vorleger, sodass ich eine neue brauchte. Den positiven Rezensionen folgend habe ich mir dann diese hier gegönnt, auch wenn sie eindeutig dem höherpreisigem Segment entstammt. Aber: die Matte ist es wirklich wert, sie ist extrem schön, fusselt nicht, ist griffig und gut zu transportieren. Der Versand erfolgte auch schneller als erwartet und angekündigt. Noch dazu wird ein Teil des Kauferlöses einem wohltätigen Zweck gespendet. So wie Yogis sich dann wünschen – alles wird eins. klare Kaufempfehlung.

You can feel the craftsmanship woven into every inch of this rug. I love the sourcing story behind it and the fact that the cotton's organic. I've had other cotton rugs in the past, which soon became too rough and stiff for an ashtanga practice after just a few washes. This is easily the best experience I've had on a cotton rug. It's soft and light, sits perfectly over a 71 inch black mat pro (with room to spare) and makes jumping through and back a much more pleasant experience. Grip and balance come naturally, but not at the expense of comfort.

I've washed mine several times now and it still comes out really soft, retaining its original color and size. I think it will last years, if not decades. It washes well in cold water & a gentle spin, and will usually dry within 24 hours. I use mine for about a week before washing it. No unpleasant odors or scuffing on the mat... it feels like it's built to last. I got mine in plum; the threading, detail and color scream quality and look great.

I've used various Mysore yoga rugs over the past few years and my Ekaminhale rug is by far the best! I was very happy with the look and feel of my non-organic Ekaminhale rug (much less slipping of my hands than with other rugs) and I can honestly say that using a rug over a sticky mat is a totally different experience. Now that I have an organic Ekaminhale mat I am even happier!! I ordered the Plum Organic Ekaminhale Yoga Rug and I love it!!!

I was a little surprised by the dimensions because it is larger than a standard sticky mat. But if you are a tall person then it will be perfect.

After purchasing the rug I watched the Ekaminhale video about how the rugs are made and I instantly felt a personal connection to the weavers, especially because the rug in the video is the same colour as mine. I am glad to be part of this sustainable and environmental initiative. I highly recommend this product for all Ashtangis!
