Damien is a soldier for the Cuban government. The dictator of Cuba is his boss. His father is a soldier as well. His boss feels he is ready for a bigger role by his side. The night he goes for a raid on a farm his life changes forever. He is forced to do things he doesn't believe in and that is when he meets Amira. He saves her as much as she saves him. He vows to always been there for her. He gives her a home after her family is killed and provides everything for her. Damien has become a monster or at least that is how he sees himself but he always hides that from her.
Amira has been in love with Damien since as far back as she can remember. He saved her and she watches him become a strong and powerful man. He gives her everything she will ever need and more just because he feels guilty for taking her family from her. She sees it in his eyes. But she knows not the monster he has become. She may romanticize their relationship but she loves him even if he continues to hurt her.
Damien brings another women home to met his Rosa, his mother for all intents and purposes. That hurts Amira more than anything else he could ever do until he finds out that he is going to marry this women. That destroys her. But his new bride is not who anyone thinks she is. She was planted to spy on him and his boss. She disappears and is never heard from again. Damien is trying to stay away from Amira because he feels things for her and he has no idea what to do with those feeling.

This book is a complete mind roller coaster and most definately leaves you wanting much more but sadly as M. often does, She messes with us and makes us wait. So in January the ending to this story will be coming out and we will all have our answers to the burning questions we all have. You will cry, you will laugh, you will want to hurt M. but it wouldnt be a M. Robinson book without any of those feels. so Thank you M. you have done it again!

I've just finished El Santo by M. Robinson and I am at a complete loss for words. This book was her BEST book yet. Hands down. As a USA Times Best-Selling author that really says something. El Santo is based on the characters of Damien and Amira. Their love was doomed before it even began. Damien wasn't the hero, he was the anti-hero. Amira was his victim and his savior. As with all of M. Robinson's characters, Damien is the epitome of an alpha male with cockiness in abundance and determination seeped in every molecule of his person. He is utterly ruthless...he is raw male power. With a angle on one shoulder and the devil on the other, Damien will hold you completely captivated and leave you utterly devastated and deeply in-love.

I experienced every emotion imaginable in reading El Santo and on more then one occasion I wanted to call up the author (regardless of the fact that I don't have a phone number) and ask her what the HE** she was thinking!?!?!? She killed me with HEARTACHE so strong I was crying; and not just crying, but ugly crying. I also came very, VERY close to throwing my kindle. Her plot twist literally sent me spinning and left me with goosebumps!

I have read every book by M. Robinson and I have always had a thing for the Good ol' Boy's series. She followed those up with El Diablo and while I liked Martinez, I LOVED Damien! When she wrote Road to Nowhere and End's Here, Creed Jameson became my all time favorite alpha book boyfriend. I love how intense her heroes are and somehow she manages to out do herself with every book. Damien puts all of the other hero's to shame.

M. Robinson really is the Queen of Angst! She continues to reign supreme and hold this title strongly in her hands with the release of her newest book, El Santo. The story will take you in from the get-go and hold you completely captivated by her epic storytelling abilities. Also, M. Robinson is absolutely NEVER predictable. Just when you think you know where Amira and Damien are headed she throws in plot twist after plot twist. Do yourself a favor and one-click this book immediately!!! You'll be thanking me!

M. Robinson is hands-down one of my all-time favorite authors. She does not just give us stories, but epic journeys that slay her readers with all the feels. I know, I know how that sounds, but she gives us real, honest and raw stories that grip you and never let you go. Trust me, she is a must read author. I have loved every single one of her books I have read to-date. El Santo was no exception. I felt like my heart was going to explode at any minute with the emotional roller coaster of a journey she gave us.

El Santo, Damien Montero, was not a good man, but sometimes choices are taken out of your hands. Damien is the son of a dangerous man who is part of a regime in Cuba. He has no choice but to follow in his father’s footsteps. What he has seen and done shape the man he is to become.

Amira, Damien’s Muneca, is an innocent stuck in a world she did not ask to be in. Damien and the men who destroyed her future in a blink of an eye changed her life forever. Though Damien decided to become her protector, in doing so, put her in more danger. But what is more dangerous, a life with or without the man that can destroy you?

There is so much I want to say, but this is a story that must be experienced while reading. It was such an emotional read. But I must say, this was not an easy book to read. Damien and Amira’s journey throughout this book was heartbreaking and emotional. But in true M. Robinson style, she gives us moments that provide some hope. The ending was brutal (as a reader) and I cannot wait to see where she takes us in the next book. She is not known for the Queen of Angst for nothing!

Damn..MR isn’t the queen of angst for any old reason, Christ she’s just dragged me to the edge of sanity with stunning read. My head & heart are battered, bruised & broken, with little to zero chance of ever forgetting Damien & Amira.

Their story was so sad, with some harrowing circumstances that not only brought them together, but kept their souls connected on a higher level for the years that followed. It was a journey filled with love & anger, hurt & healing, sadness & happiness, for where Damien was the darkness in the depths of hell, Amira was the purest of light, an angel sent from heaven.

The early chapters gripped me hard, honestly I don’t think I was aware that I could even hold my breath that long. They were hard hitting, gut wrenching & ugly. My heart tore at its seams for Damien, giving me a new found appreciation & a massive hero worthy level of respect for this dark & dangerous killer. He was a victim to circumstance that changed him forever, a man raised for death & destruction. He never had a choice other than to obey. But even then that wasn’t enough.

But Amira IS his light & she is without doubt one of my favourite MR heroines. For even with the hand she was dealt in life, the monsters that changed her world, she still radiated light, love & innocence. I loved how she loved Damian, how she refused to give up, always hoping, always giving. Her spirit shone like brightest star in night sky, I defy anyone not to love this girl.

One of my fav scenes is near the beginning. It showed so beautifully how their hearts & souls called to each other. How instant trust, hope & protection was formed & was cemented between them. How a monster opened his heart to love an angel. How hand in hand this gorgeous man & this brave little girl understood just how much they needed each other to keep moving forward. Not knowing what tomorrow would bring. Gah I couldn’t stop the leaky eyes from this point onwards but nor did I care.

I’m not even going to mention the ending, except to say it was perfect & exactly how it was meant to be.

Wow! the Queen of Angst is back and done it again, she's knocked it out of the park with El Santo.

M Robinson certainly hasn't pulled any punches with this phenomenal read from her! she takes you on the quite the ride, breaking you down to build you up again.

You WIL cry you WILL shout, you WIL curse her to hell and back BUT you will love every word.

She warned us that she wouldn't pull any punches with Damien, that his isn't a good man but we all love that douche that we really shouldn't. I have a love/hate relationship with Damien, I love to hate him and hate that I love him!

Once you start this book you will be unable to put it down! you will be kept gripped with the angst, the raw emotions, the heartbreak, the twists, the turns and the secrets all keep you on the edge of your seat and with the tequila bottle handy!

I honestly think Amira and Damien are in a tie for my favourite couple along with Creed and Mia.

If you read and loved El Diablo and The Good Ol' Boys then you will love El Santo as this is the perfect blend

Again well done to M. Robinson you have well and truly deserved and earnt your title as the Queen of Angst there is a reason your my top 1-click author and this phenomenal style of writing is it!

M.Robinson you absolute genius, just when I think you can't get any better you write a masterpiece like that!
From the first page this story hooks you, its all engrossing as you submerged into Damien's screwed up life. He's constantly walking a tightrope and then fate pulls a cruel hand and throws in the sweet and innocent child into the darkness with him. I can't say more as I don't want to spoil the experience.
I will say however the characters are sublime, their inner turmoil and emotions punch you right in the chest. You are swept along and at one point I had to stop and grab a tissue because I was really angry at Damien, just like the first page promised.
The characters have a pulse, its vulnerable, heartbreaking, endearing, brutal, hopeful and all engrossing. I was completely swept away and at the end I was utterly speechless.
Its believable, beautiful, breathtaking and just an absolute pleasure to read, an masterclass in storytelling.
Read this, you won't be disappointed.

Reading it was like being in a 4D movie . You stepped into the book & all of your senses took over.
I know I shouldn't like Damien because he has done some disposable things ,but I couldn't help but have a soft spot for him.
Damien wanted for nothing growing up, except love. He was raised to be a hard , ruthless soldier , one who would one day lead.
Anita knew love, she had a loving father , mother, & sister, until they where horrifically butchered in front of her . Damien was there , he became her lifeline.
She is now his responsibility to shelter & protect from those who would kill her.
Then comes the day when he has to protect her from himself.
Reading this has my emotions rolling around like they were in a tumble dryer.

OMG I haven't read any books by this author but am hooked now.
Damien saves Amira,keeps her safe but theres more,so very much more.
Working for a dictator, Damien is aware of what happens to the loved ones of any 'soldier' . They are a weakness and he needs to keep Amira safe.
There are many twists and turns within this book. Damien is a monster but through conditioning but his feelings for Amira are so much deeper.
Their connection is electric but causes as much pain as it does satisfaction.
This story is addictive but leaves you on the cliff with your heart flopped over on the floor below.
book two is can't come quick enough.
