If Fallout 4 gets a switch release, I'll pretty much accept that life is complete.
But seriously, I have a 4k TV and the upsampled 900p(?) looks fine from my bed, and at work (did I say that out loud? I meant "not at home") the small 720p screen looks crisp and clear. It's obviously not going to look as fly as an ultra-specced 4k beast of a pc, but, I mean, you can literally play this on a plane, or a boat, or on a train, or at work (heck, I said it again). AND it even allows you natively to record 30 seconds of footage so you can share your adventures with the world!
The Switch version runs very steady and looks awesome in docked or handheld modes and contains all 3 DLC built in. It doesn't get old playing an epic 200+ hour RPG in your hands while in bed, on commute, on the toilet, on the couch, during sex, while eating, or bathing. Worth every penny, but if you already played the crap out of this game the Switch version doesn't add much new except motion controls and complete freedom to play it whenever and wherever.

First of all, Amiibo support works pretty much the same as it does in Breath of the Wild. You can scan amiibos in game to summon a chest of loot. I think it's likely levelled loot, as most chests I've summoned have pretty dull contents but it can be nice to get some "free" alchemy ingredients or a few arrows here and there. There's also some BotW gear obtainable this way, but it's also able to be found in game without amiibos, so kudos for that.
The visuals are very good, of course. Slightly behind PS4/XBO for indoor invironments, a bit further behind for outdoor environments, and still a step ahead of PS3/360 for both. On the TV, it looks like skyrim. On the handheld, it looks like black magic. (Though it really shouldn't as there are plenty of better looking Switch games out there already)
Finally there's the motion controls though.. and honestly, that was the main draw for me. Portability is great and all, but I've been daydreaming about a motion controlled Elder Scrolls game since the Wii was announced. Well... I'm pretty disappointed here. Basic attacks are simple enough, waggle the left joycon to attack with the left hand, right joycon for right hand. A stronger waggle is a power attack, and that leads to the first issue.. Trying to do a regular attack with a lighter waggle often leads to not waggling hard enough to have an attack recognized at all. A waggle to throw Cappy in Super Mario Odyssey is easy enough to get down, but waggling to attack in Skyrim is going to take a lot more patience.
Lockpicking is better, but superfluous. You hold the ZL or ZR button and rotate the joycon to move the probe or the wedge and pick the lock. This feels okay, but get be a little jerky thanks to the left joycon doing whatever it wants at times. The big help here though is the HD rumble, by moving the probe around the tumblers in the lock will give a pulse when you move past them. One will have an ever so slightly stronger pulse, and the sweet spot is a bit to the left or right of that. (EDIT: The stronger pulse is felt when entering the sweet spot. Leaving the sweet spot results in a lighter pulse like any other tumbler, making this slightly confusing but as long as you don't feel another pulse after passing the tumbler that enters the sweet spot, you're there. Twist away to pick the lock.) This makes lockpicking MUCH easier when you get the hang of it. On the downside, it makes the lockpicking perk tree even more pointless now that you can pick just about any lock in the game with the lowest lockpicking skill even possible.
Finally, there's the gyro aiming and.... wow is this rough. I prefer gyro aiming in Splatoon and BotW, and didn't buy Doom specifically because there was no gyro aiming and I can't imagine playing that game with stick controls. However, the gyro in Skyrim has some WEIRD quirks to it. If you rotate the controller clockwise, it pans the aim straight left. Counterclockwise pans straight right. This is made far worse from the fact that if you tilt a controller to the right to try to aim at something to the right, you naturally twist it slightly clockwise and jerk the aim to the left. This problem is lessened in portable mode, but still there.
Furthermore, there are no options to change gyro sensitivity at all, and the default sensitivity is a bit on the low side. I really HOPE these issues are addressed in a patch, but considering this took how long to port to Switch and it launched with these issues, I'm not gonna hold my breath. It's still a great way to play Skyrim on the go, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to look towards Skyrim VR to get a proper motion control fix for this game.
Here's hoping Bethesda brings the Fallout series to the Switch. Whether it's Fallout 3 or Fallout 4. I'll take either, although I'd prefer both.
