Is there anything Rachel Van Dyken can't do?

I have enjoyed each and every book I have read by her. But this one comes close to being a favorite. I think it is because I love the characters so much.

TEAM NIXON. TEAM CHASE. <----- That seems to be the big question. As much as I love Nixon, my heart pulls towards Chase. But then I get yanked right back. Rinse and repeat, the cycle continues.
Even though everyone is of course on pins and needles to find out who she chooses,
¨Choose me. Because my heart? My soul? My damn existence? Has already spoken, and it wants you, and only you-forever.¨

There is a lot of secrets and discovery in Elect. Things begin to make some sense. But all these answers come at a price. In order to keep Trace safe, Nixon has to push her into Chase's arms. He knows Chase loves her, so he knows she will be safe from everyone else, except maybe Chase. Nixon wars with himself on keeping Trace safe and the possibility of losing her to his cousin, his best friend. Because as hard as Chase tries to fight it he falls deeper and deeper in love with Trace. A bullet to the head is all worth it, all worth having her love him the way he loves her.

¨All it takes is one kiss. One kiss can save you. One kiss can ruin you for life. And my kisses? They better ruin you, Trace.....Because my kisses are real- they mean a hell of a lot more than yours, and from here on out- I'm not holding back.¨

Up and down is the best way to describe this book. So many different emotions, being pulled so many different ways. Then hit with all the secrets. Elect is fast paced and a great follow up. I pretty much guessed who Trace would choose, but I was still surprised by how it all played out.

I can't remember the last time a book made me feel this much anxiety! I was on the verge of a panic attack. The story took off from the beginning, and... wow, I'm just literally blown away. I couldn't put it down. I loved book one, but this just blew it out of the water. Crazy good. Action packed. Witty banter. Freaking stressful. Just...AHHHH!! I'm still feeling the tension right now. I feel like I could come out of my skin! I haven't put a book on my favorites list in a while, but I just did!

Ok, deep breath… where to start….??

Where did that come from? I sat down last night in my PJ’s with my hot chocolate and kindle in hand thinking – YAY! Another Rachel Van Dyken book . This will be fun. -- ha ha ha. Joke is on me. I woke up this morning and I do not have fingernails. LOL. For real. So beware to all the ladies with freshly manicured fingernails. You should probably wear gloves. This is a nail biter.

Literally, just thinking about this book is making me feel the tension again. Rachel pushed her boundaries in this book for sure. This is the first book by her that literally had me on the edge of my seat. Book 1 was great and mysterious, but this was just crazy stressful for me. The secrets don’t stop coming. The book is told from the guy’s POV (Nixon, Chase, and Phoenix). I really don’t want to give away any spoilers, and honestly I wouldn’t know where to start in trying to explain this to you. It’s a puzzle for sure, but I really liked how it turned out when I had all the puzzle pieces.

There’s a triangle in here, but WAIT… don’t run! It’s not what you’d expect. There are a lot of secrets. EVERYTHING works out the way it needs to. You’ll be fine (after you stress for the entire book haha). It’s definitely a Happy for Now ending.

Elect picks up literally at from the ending of Elite and takes you on a rollercoaster of emotion. This book was so suspenseful I wasn't sure what was gonna happen and I literally could not put it down. Despite the drama, mafia craziness, and darker moments, this story centers around the most amazing of love stories. One person willing to give up everything in an effort to protect the one they love. Nixon has definitely made it to my best book boyfriend list. There were times his arrogance and behavior annoyed me in the first book, but he is redeemed completely in my eyes.

There are times this book borders on being like a love triangle which made me a little upset with Trace. I cannot understand how easily she fell into her feelings with Chase. Add in the craziness of the old history we learn about while solving the mystery of who killed Trace's parents and who is behind all the upheaval and I have to admit I was left a little confused. I am still not sure of the Nixon/Monroe/Chase family tree. But regardless, the story comes together well and I was not disappointed in the end. Another unexpected was Phoenix's POV. I really felt for him after getting more of his history and am glad for the way it turned out. I am hopeful based on the ending with Mil, that another book has to be in the works.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Rachel has become one of my favorite author this year!! Elect, book 2, was absolutely AMAZING! The dynamics between the characters, redemption for the one I loathed, love between two men and new characters added to the mix. I loved the twists and turns this book made. I cried for both Nixon and Chase. I love Nixon, but I love Chase a little bit more! If you haven't read this series, you need to begin with Elite. Everything I have read from Ms Van Dyken is AMAZING!!!! You won't be disappointed. Just be prepared to NOT to want to out this book down. Not to process, process, process!!
