Also, I read about how they scratch up your mug if it is stainless steel. This is true, not going to lie, HOWEVER, if you use a little sense, you can easily fix that problem.
I believe Electra should just slightly bend the bottom of the taper out slightly, that would solve all problems for scratching. But, all I used was some felt with adhesive on one side and stuck it around the bottom. Works great. I will also be uploading my pictures so you can see for yourself. (I used a tan color because that's what I had, but I think a black felt would be best in style)
ATTENTION: The cup holder attachment design is different than pictured. Still holds just as well, but it NO LONGER has the metal band. It uses a plastic attachment with finger screw. Go to Electra's website to see what you will be getting now. It does not have any problems holding and does not loosen from my use thus far.
All-in-all this is a great cup holder if you understand what you're purchasing. Looks sleek and does its job well.

It uses a metal band with rubber spacer that can be tightened extremely tight on the handle bars so there is no chance of the cup holder swiveling around the bar. The only issue is it is a bit hard to get the bolt started that tightens the band.
The second benefit of the metal band holder vs the pictured holder is that the cup holder on the metal band holder can be rotated if you can't mount your cup holder on a level spot on your handle bar. The metal mount can be mounted at an angle, and the cup holder part rotated to a horizontal position before you tighten the mounting bolt.
I also wanted something to put coffee in for my commute. the Electra version works well *if* you use an angled cup. It can only be used with an angled cup. Unfortunately, there are (so far as I can tell) no waterbottles with angled bottoms. But, this does work well with my coffee cups, the starbucks cold beverage cups and some assorted brands.
I would bring along the cupholder when purchasing a cup. Other than that, people comment all the time on my cupholder and how great it is.
I wouldn't mind if it was a little bigger and / or there was a straight cup size option (vs the angle only).

This cup holder is quality made, but poorly designed. I can't find any cups that fit in this holder, except a small red plastic 'keggger cup". Read morePublished 12 months ago by Marko Polo SB
Nice addition to your bike if you ride and drink. I find I don't use it much but when I do it works well.Published on September 8, 2013 by kirk harris
Great handy product' Holds cups very well!
I am an avid rider and i will sometimes fly over speed bumps and this held my cup very well.
I love this thing! It perfectly holds the starbucks cups, not the reusable ones :( those are too rigid. It will hold it but they might fall out on bumps. Read morePublished on May 13, 2013 by Alicia Kee
I chose this coffee holder, by its simple design, something I did not bother to use it. And I still think this is your best value. Read morePublished on January 22, 2013 by Bernardita Lorenzini I.
I don't understand why they sell/ship items that are different than the item that is pictured. The mount can NOT be rotated. Otherwise it is ok.Published on November 27, 2012 by J. R.
Handy little cup holder. Clearly states that it is for cups and not bottles. I used it on my bike when I rode to work in the morning and it held my coffee cup just fine. Read morePublished on November 1, 2012 by Awwie15
