This bike came in, and within a few days my husband has taken this as his own. The bike is a great value for a product under $1,000. While some of the components are basic, it is apparent Swagtron focused on making this an affordable electric bike. The removable battery pack is awesome, the electronic controls are straight forward, and very easy to use. There is plenty of power for level ground and some uphill slope, steeper hills I found myself pedaling, well my husband finds himself pedaling a bit. Assembly out of the box was super easy. Overall very pleased, and yes, looks like will be buying a second one, for me!!!

Whiney but willing to work

I have put around 250 miles on my bike so far and the overall experience has been really pleasant. I want to preface this with the fact that I am not an elite level biker by any stretch and fall more into the fun/causal biker category. If you are looking to spend 1000+ on a bike this one will not have the same level of refinement as a traditional bike at the same price point. This is basically a $500 bike with $500 in battery and motor attachments. So if you are fine with a traditional bike, or you want an super refined high spec experience I would search out something different. That being said this is a very good electric bike in this price point, and the best I could find that didn't require a 3rd party website. This mattered to me because I knew I could A.) Send it back if it came damaged and the turnaround would be quick (Which I did have to do because the first one came with a buster battery) and B.) because I didn't have to spread my payment information around the internet more than it is. These are the things that I have noticed so far.

1.) The motor is loud when in its 3rd speed but unnoticeable in 1st. So you can have a quiet low assist ride but if you are pushing it people will notice.
2.) The 250w motor is great for cruising around flats and has gotten me up some monster hills I know I couldn't do on my own. Hills where I would sit down on the ground and call an uber to take me up. That said I would like more power because on those hills it is still a bit of a struggle, but not so much that im not passing a lot of the more experienced bikers on their traditional bikes. I would opt for a 500w if this bike had that option
3.) It is a street bike, it is not setup like a mountain bike, and trying to use it like one will damage the bike, and probably you along with it. It could be modified but the cost wouldn't be worth while and the frame couldn't take that kind of punishment I don't believe. But the trade of is if you are on paved roads, you will be able to easily ride this with no assist and it won't feel any different from any other bike.
4.) Excellent battery life - I have 25 miles on hilly terrain in peddle assist 3 with no indication that I have even touched the battery range. The only time I had reduced bars was over the course of 3 days forgetting to charge it and putting 50 miles on it and I got down to 3/4 bars.
5.) it is very lightweight for an E Bike at under 40lbs. Its still easy-ish to lift and put on my bike rack. This also makes it really good in non electric mode. It is lighter than my 92 Schwinn mountain bike.
6.) It needs more traditional gears. The gears on it aren't bad quality, but I am already wanting to upgrade to 21 speed for more range on both ends. I am hoping this solves the need for a 500w motor, and gives me more top end. I can only get to around 17/19 mph before I hit the gearing wall.

So what is the takeaway for the casual rider. This is a great entry level E bike, and while you will find a couple better at this price point like the Sondors bikes, they will likely be from 3rd party sellers where you risk long wait times for the bike to arrive or service to be had. Additionally this bike is a traditional bike with motorized accessories slapped on it which means any bike shop could do 90% of any maintenance you need. I absolutely recommend it for riding around neighborhoods, parks, commuting, and any place that is paved.

This is not a real powerful electric bike, yet at my advanced age, it is fast enough for me speeding along at 15 mph on the flat. The bike arrived well packaged and double boxed. Everything was there and easy to assemble with the included tools. There are four riding modes, peddle it like a regular bicycle, mode 1 is light electric assist when peddling, mode two is aggressive electric assist when peddling and mode 3 is electric with or without peddling to include cruise after seven seconds. There is no need to hold the thumb throttle in cruise as the bike will learn hold the speed. Cruise can be cancelled by lightly applying either hand brake. I like the classic style of the bike as most electric bike are just too strange in appearance.

I've built electric bikes and owned a couple of fully built electric bikes. A novice electric bike rider can fearlessly order this bike. It comes out of the box almost fully assembled. Attach front wheel, handlebars, and pedals-- you're good to go. The electronics are fully assembled, thank God. Gears are smooth. It required basically no adjustment or tinkering with brakes or gear mechanism (a real feat). I've got a 6 mile commute to work... it's perfect x I put a more comfortable seat on it

So happy with this bike - exactly fits my desires! My other ebike is a mountain bike with slightly less capability, but still used for off road; the swagtron is definitely a road bike, but a very good one even without the assist. I love the three levels of assist choice (or none). Funny story - I knew it was probably just a calibration thing with the meter but after 35 miles the first day I got it, it showed only one bar down out of five for charge. So, second day was going to try and do at least 15 miles to try and drive the battery down. I live up in the hills but some of the best rides are down along the flats near the Strait of San Juan de Fuca. Anyway, so cruised down the hill to try a new route with an aggressive profile...ran out of juice at the furthest point, so was pretty much without assist across the flats and up the hill. The bike was great! A little more workout perhaps than I was expecting, but made it across and up . BTW, I'm not a Mr universe...This is just a decent road bike without the power assist, but toward the end, i have to admit that I was looking for the lower end of 21 speeds. Value for this product? Extraordinary! I saw on the site they are now backlogged but offering a $100 discount. Im so happy to have got the last several available shipped sooner than expected. i would not hesitate as most bicycles seem to be backed up even further. Great bike...exceeded expectations...quick shipping (when they have availability). Not a shill; just think this is an awesome bike for what I wanted. Great range...great flexibility...not sure how it compares as just a throttle ride but there a much better options out there for throttle rides.

Do not get this bike get one with fat tires this thing has the same tires as bicycle racing bikes. The throttle sucks on this thing as well dont get it trust me look for a ebike with the big tires.
