Works, but not for long.

I bought this for a friend of mine, (& after it took a week to get here cuz after it made it to my town, USPS messed up and shipped it down to Brooklyn and back up here again) installed it on a 20hp Kohler lawn tractor, and it worked initially. Was quite noisy when the engine was off, but couldn’t hear it when the engine was running. He used it a time or 2(1-2 hours tops, maybe less time) to mow his yard, then the pump motor seized and got hot when the key was on, but would shoot a spurt of gas out when the key was turned on from the off position. By the time it quit working, the return period was up, and I had cut off the original connectors, so unreturnable anyway. I bought 2 and installed 1 of the JDMSPEED version of this fuel pump, and is working fine so far. Verdict: stay away from this brand if you don’t want to waste time, effort, and money. Value for money: almost none. Make sure to get 1/4” male spade terminals to install this. I hooked up the positive terminal to the hour meter with a quick splice terminal, and ran the negative terminal back to an existing small ground wire with another quick splice terminal.

It sucks and pumps diesel fuel ok. I am losing fuel prime in the fuel lines of a semi truck after the engine has been shut down over night or for a number of hours. Because some of the fuel is draining back into the tanks and I get air in the fuel lines, engine will crank, but it will not start. I use this pump to quickly prime the fuel system again (suck the fuel through the fuel in hose and a fuel filter, push the fuel and air bubbles through another fuel filter, the cylinder head, check valve, return line, back into the fuel tanks). After doing these for a few seconds or minutes, the engine will start.

I used this to continuously pump non pressurized evaporust through some tubing. I noticed the pumping sound changed after the first day. After several days the pumping stopped. I took it apart and found a spring, broken into three pieces, on the input side of the pumping mechanism. The rest of the design looks solid but apparently this spring is a weak point.

I work for a company who has multiple service trucks with welding machines. Our shop foreman installs pumps like these on the new trucks so that they can use the gas from the truck's gas tank to operate the machine for extended periods of time. I decided to give this a try and it worked great for about 10 minutes before dying. I read the previous reviews and it seems like if they make it through about the first 30 minutes they're good to go. I contacted the seller and was sent a replacement pump the next day. The new pump has roughly 32 hours of use so far on the jobsite with no issue. The reason I'm giving 5 stars even though I did receive a defective pump initially, is because I read the reviews, and was willing to take the risk at the $15 price point. The seller made the purchase right and it has now provided numerous hours of trouble free operation.
