Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Adhering to a one-concept-per-page philosophy, this standard-setting book combines a series of volumes designed specifically to teach electricity. From producing electricity to electromagnetism, from power sources to dynamotors, each volume offers complete coverage of a given area of knowledge, with topics progressing in carefully constructed, incremental steps designed to fully prepare readers for the volume ahead. Contains complete studies on producing electricity, D-C circuits, A-C circuits, LCR circuits, test equipment, power sources, and electric motors. Covers only one discrete topic or concept per page, and visually corresponds the concept with one or more illustrations relating to it on that same page. Defines and highlights all technical terms and key words at their point of introduction, and reiterates major points covered in prior topics to reinforce knowledge, aid in retention, and pave the way for smoother transitions. Third Edition now updates the atomic table list of elements, demonstrates current examples of electricity's uses; incorporates National Electric Code data throughout; expands coverage on the table of Standard Wire; includes considerable data on digital test equipment as well as electronic test meters, and much more. Ideal for Electrical Apprentice Training, Electrical Technology courses in trade schools, and for Corporate Training Programs.

No complaints about the content of this book. I'm sure it would be fine if I could actually read it! The problem is with the print quality and binding. It looks like a poor quality photo copy of the actual book. The blurry text is extremely difficult to read. The binding started splitting apart the first time I opened the book. I'm very disappointed.

I rue the day that Pearson got the rights to this book. We used to use it in our apprenticeship and it is a fabulous book. When the 3rd edition came out in hard cover it had awesome color graphics. The third edition was by far the best one produced. Then Pearson got their hands on it and now it is only available by print on demand, with a paperback cover and binding. What was a wonderful book now looks like copies of newspaper print. What a shame. I have never seen another book that can match this one for its purpose, training people in the electrical trades. I wish I could get the rights to it but somehow I think Pearson had an interest in burying this book in favor of one of their others.

The book was required for an electrical class I took, and the content is excellent ! But that's where the good comments end.

The printing was absolutely the worst!!! Sometimes blurry, but mostly the print was way too light. Like you were trying to save on toner when printing it. So light, that some places the text characters a look like they are fading away.

The other printing mistake that was made was the margins. Normal books have wide margins on the page where it is close to the binding, and narrower margins on the outside edges. This is so you dont have to split the book wide open to read text close to the binding. Well, this book was printed in reverse!!! The print was so close to the binding (forcing you to open the book wide and damage the binding), and very wide "edge" margin on the outside. Probably a printing error, that is easily correctable if you just start page 1 on the next page, and it would have corrected this fiasco.

If it wasn't required for my class I would have returned it and asked for a refund !

Have to agree with the other review. The print quality is extremely poor and blurry. A $100 book should not have substandard printing.

The book that I received looks like a copy of the original. The characters and graphics look blurry on all pages. Unless the original book looks like the one I got, then I believe I got a copy.
