Product Description

The Ergorapido Ion has some unique and remarkable features. It charges four times faster and delivers 50% more power with lithium ion battery. It operates at full power the entire time it’s on, unlike other types of battery-powered vacuums. Its lightweight not only makes it easy to carry, but also helps in storing conveniently. When using as a stick vacuum, another highlighting feature is the 180 degree swivel head of the floor base. It is easy to steer around furniture legs with just a light twist of the handle.

I bought this along with the Hoover Linx stick to compare. Between the two, they both have their advantages and disadvantages, but as an overall stick vac, the Linx probably wins out.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Ergorapido Ion
PROS
+Ultra! maneuverable on hardwood floors (A dream on hardwood floors)
+Lightweight
+Headlight on vacuum head
+2-in-1 stick and hand vac design
+Decent suction
+Appearance

CONS
-Really! poor maneuverability on carpet floors (Almost immovable on thicker carpets)
-Unreplacable battery (Only a 2 year warranty and no plans for replacement)
-Doesn't stand up on it's own
-Can't turn off brush mode
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hoover Linx
PROS
+Better suction
+Interchangable/Replaceable Battery
+Can switch brush mode on or off
+Good on hardwood floors AND carpets
+Able to stand up on it's own

CONS
-Less maneuverable/Clunkier (tires my hand out more than Ergorapido)
-A little bit heavier
-No 2-in-1 hand vac
-No vacuum headlight
----------------------------------------------------------------
So each vacuum has it's advantages and disadvantages. If I had just hardwood floors, the Ergorapido would win out. That's where it shines bright. It's a joy to use on hardwood floors. It's almost swiffer-like in maneuverability only glides easier. The headlight feature on the Ergorapido is also a big plus. It let me spot out dust that I normally wouldn't have seen with the Linx. But with the Hoover Linx, I can go on both carpet and hardwood and expect decent performance and use overall.

This is an 18 Volt model, and has a lot more suction power than the previous one I owned. My last one served me well for many years before the rechargeable battery died. When I went online I discovered that they come in various voltages, so I got this one. I think the additional expense is well worth it. This model comes with a couple of tools, a brush and a crevasse tool, which snap into the charging base. Otherwise, the design is almost identical to the Pronto I used to have. Just be aware that they look alike, but that there are several different voltage models out there. That accounts for the wide range of prices among Electrolux stick vacuums.

I am THE queen of stick vacs, the mother of a toddler, and owner of two cats. I made it my mission over the years to find a great stick vac, but I needed something with a 2-in-1 feature so I could use a hand vac also. I have previously been the owner of the Eureka Boss, a Shark 2-in-1, and a Dirt Devil Accucharge. The latter vacuum couldn't even get me through the one year warranty without the battery dying on me. I was researching this and the Dyson equivalent [I own the Dyson Animal], but thought I would give this a try given the reviews and being a smidge less.

I am extremely satisfied. The charge is long lasting, the suction is exceptional. It's so convenient, effortless and feels sturdy.

I bought a Hoover LINX cordless stick vac for my 86 year old Mom a few years ago and she says it's her favorite vacuum ever..."I love it". I wanted to get a cordless stick vac for myself, and having been a Hoover fan for many years - I almost automatically went for the LINX. I already have a Hoover Z convertable upright/canister vacuum that is great for hardwood floors (it has a real horsehair brush) and great reach with the 20 foot hose. I can easily vacuum floors, furniture, blinds, ceiling fans and dust knick knacks with the Z and keep it running for over an hour with no problems.

I wanted to get a light, easy to grab, use and re-store vacuum for those in-between marathon cleanings that only happen about once a month.

I have always been intrigued by Electrolux as a company, and had a friend in college who had an early 1970s canister model that really was a classy vacuum at that time - powerful, efficent and effective. I have followed Electrolux's evolution via news blogs and their own website over the years and have become very impressed with their enviornment-friendly production methods and goals for the future.

I did research on many review websites and finally decided to go with their most powerful stick vac/hand vac combo...the Ergorapido Ion. I initially charged it as suggested for about a day, and there after only need about 3 hours from empty to full charge. Upon first using it, I noticed it had a good noise level/pitch and was not a 'screetcher" or a "whiner" like a lot of less expensive brands. Also, the assembly (one screw) was as simple and quick as could be. The color of the body is also a really beautiful deep orange or rust color.

I purchased this almost exactly 3 years ago. I hate it. The suction is mediocre, it is very hard to use on carpet, and the pivoting head is a total pain in the a--!!! I have 2 older cordless models, a Shark and a Eureka Boss Lite. They both are far older but do a far better job and are so much easier to use! I thought 'new' would be better, but it is just much more expensive. Forget about this one. It is a total waste of money.

UPDATE: 10/1/2014: Electrolux contacted me as a result of the negative review. The customer service manager was delightful and professional. She said that she wanted me to be happy with my purchase and is in the midst of making good on that. She did inform me that these vacuums are not meant to be used on carpeting and rugs, just bare floors.

UPDATE: 10/13/2014: Electrolux sent replacement vacuum which is a huge improvement over the original model that I purchased and reviewed here. The customer care provided was wonderful and greatly appreciated - and will be remembered when I am on the market for other items that they manufacture. They went 'above and beyond' by contacting me and trying to make me a satisfied customer! Quite a testimonial for Electrolux and social media...
