Exactly what I was looking for but disappointed

I recently switched from an iPhone to an Android, Galaxy S5. I have always played Tetris to pass the time and love the game. When I downloaded the Tetris from the Google Play Store I was very disappointed that it was completely different than the one I was use to (and Loved) than the one I had on my iPhone.

Then after some searching I finally found the same Tetris app from Amazon and was more than happy to pay the 2.99 for this app because of the amount of time I spend playing it. Once downloaded and installed I opened up and could tell right away that it was the same app, hooray, happy, that is until I played it. It is so touchy and supper responsive on the S5 that it's a little hard to play and very easy to make mistakes by overshooting your placement of a block to the location you want to place it. There needs to be a way to adjust the motion speed faster or slower in order to correct this problem, similar to how you change the motion speed of your mouse pointer on a computer. Other than that it's fine, just not sure I can get used to or adjust to the sensitive movement.

LOVE TETRIS

This is just as good as the classic Tetris you played on your computer. I did get a bit annoyed on the free app with the ads and upgrading is worth losing that annoyance. I use this app for times when I am a little stressed and it helps me to feel calmer. I heard that Tetris was supposedly a military invention at first? Haven't checked the facts, but my friend who said that told me it's meant to help with mental acuity and I can see that being the case. I used to only get to level 12 when I had the ads but I think they distracted me atiny bit from the peripheral movements. Now I've won twice. I can't believe it... level 15 is so fast!!!

Certainly the best version of tetris I have found, but there is still room for improvement. The animations between menus are completely aggravating, and it won't stop pestering me about the tutorials. The controls are in general very good, though in magic mode, they could be improved. Didn't really take a liking to shaking my phone for that. Only once did the app become completely unresponsive, after closing and restarting it, but e all was fine.
I was disappointed to find there was no unlimited mode though, I had no trouble finishing the 150 lines that were in the marathon. So, after that, there isn't much replay value for me.
Worth checking out as a free app, would give 4 stars in that context. I generally expect paid apps to have a bit more play time than what I got out of this, so I took another star off for that.

I guess I could say it is a really good version of tetris, I still have my NES with the original Tetris cart and still play that pretty regularly. So compared to that the touch controls can be a pain sometimes when you get to the higher stages. But as something to play with for a quick 10 minutes while waiting for your food order or hairdresser or whatever has you sitting for a bit, nothing beats this, only issue is you might tell them to wait cause you are too into the game. So yea, get it, it's addicting.

Not like how they use to make 'em

Back in my day, we had buttons and knobs to guide our Tetronimoes, and we liked it that way, dag nabbit!
Tetris on touch screens is doable, but it's not the best way to play the game. It's fine for the beginning levels, but as things get faster, control gets lost.
Other than the regular Tetris game play, there is also "Magic" Tetris that makes good use of the touch screen and motion sensors in the cellphone. It's a decent version of the game, but I missed some of the modes from Tetris Worlds like Sticky and Fusion.
Overall it's an average version of the game. Get the free version to try it out or wait until the full version goes on sale as 3 bucks is too much for what you get.

The thought of playing Tetris without a controller of some sort (or even a keyboard) really had me apprehensive, but I'm here to say that the touch screen process actually works pretty well. It's not ideal by any stretch of the imagination and higher levels become needlessly difficult because of the interface, but it is definitely playable in a casual sense. The graphics and music are decent and so far, no bugs or other problems.

I can't say it's worth the cost of admission since I got it as a FAotD, but if you're a Tetris freak and love to play on the go, this may be worth the price.
