I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Update 6-20-15. T.V./dvd combo working very well on house power or 12 volt. Husband loves everything about the t.v.but the volume. Since I didn't ever get a reply from the Naxa people about what kind of amplification they recommended I took the speck sheet for the t.v. to Best Buy and the folks there helped me. I bought a JBL Clip speaker (made portable for smart phones) and a 3 foot extension for the headphone jack and a 3 foot extension for the usb power source. The speaker doesn't have to have a power source to operate but only to charge the rechargeable battery in the speaker. So, you can run without the usb for aprox. 5 hours depending on the volume. My husband leaves the t.v. plugged into the 12 volt power source all the time when he is in the truck. The JBL also comes in a Clip+ model that is blue tooth. This is NOT an advertisement for JBL but I am saying that it works great for a shore power or 12 volt system. (I will steal my husbands JBL speaker
when he quits driving - to use on my portable cd player)
My main problem came the second day I tried to use the TV. On attempting to power it up, it would not turn on. This also meant that it wouldn't eject my DVD or anything of the sort. I took the TV home, tried the 120v wall cord and got the same result. After completing what NAXA advised to self repair/reset the tv, I found it was still dead with my rented DVD inside. After taking apart the tv, I found a circut chip on the main power board had overheated thus causing the ultimate failure of the tv/dvd. I have yet to hear back from NAXA on the replacement of the main board and hope they will repair the problem at their cost.
I feel this may have been a singled out issue as most reviews seem strong, however there may be others out there not willing to do the work I had to to get a DVD out.
My big problems other than the tv quitting is that there is no way to remove the dvd without disassembly of the whole setup.. (A big problem when you rent DVD's) This tv simply needs some sort of way to get DVD's out when the tv won't power.
I did contact NAXA customer service with the hope of replacing the broken main board and found that the need the whole TV shipped to them. In addition they want a $25 cashiers check for the return of the TV if/when they are able to repair it. They had no problem with me disassembling the TV to get my DVD (at least at this point) but wouldnt just simply exchange the broken part (Stated the part was unique to the this tv and that exchanging it wouldn't work as it needed to be reporgrammed/matched to it)
NAXA also stated that the TV probably malfunctioned while I had it plugged in to my 12v cigarette lighter in my camper. As the Deep cycle battery drained power, the tv had a problem and tried to run on a lower voltage at which time it burned itself out. I find this an odd problem as batterys in a 12v dc system fluctuate from 12-13.3 volts throughout a charging cycle. All other items/appliances/equipment in my camper continue to work well despite the fluctuation in voltage as the battery cycles.
In the end, I'm up in the air if I plan on taking a $50 gamble to fix a TV that lasted me 3 hours until my battery lost a full charge. In the end I'll probably get a different brand and start over.
It is only usable with 12V DC.It came with a power adapter (110V AC), but the adapter cord is not configured to attach to the monitor, (why is it included if it can't be used?
The specs list HDMI(S) in the Amazon page and the first few pages of the owners manual.
It is only when you are actually trying to connect the unit that you find there is only
It is also then that you find the "gotcha's"
"Sorry" this HDMI will not accept PC input!
"Sorry" this unit is not usable in your home!
I can't use it in my home, I can't hook it up to my PC with HDMI (VGA doesn't transmit Audio.
Viewing angle is very limited.
All in all: A promise of diamonds and delivery of coal!
MInor item, but indicative of Amazon's and vedor's openness, the listed batteries (Page 4) are no actually included.
