We have not had one issue with this product since purchase and we leave it on our bed year round. I wish there was an easy way to clean it as it does have some stains on it even though we have a mattress protector over it. Overall though I think everyone should have one of these! Not only does it save you a bundle on heating costs but it can also provide some relief for sore muscles/joints. Your pets will love it as well!
Just wanted to add a picture of the control. For the size we ordered there are two separate wired controls, one on each side of the bed. The wiring is not quite long enough to allow them to sit nicely on a bedside table so we keep ours under the bed, behind the bedskirt and use our toe to turn them on when getting ready for bed. They are very basic with an easy to read screen and they do light up when a button is pressed for those middle of the night adjustments!
The only downside, as others have pointed out, is the controller light goes off rather quickly and in the dark you can't tell by looking if it's on or not. It's true that all you have to do is push a button; if the light comes on, it's on, and if it doesn't come on it's off. Of course, that still doesn't indicate what the status was before you pushed the button (well, presumably, if you turned it on, it was off, and vice versa, but you might have pushed one of the up or down buttons and not the power button, so you can't be sure). I understand that, but it IS confusing and I really would rather not have to think about it that much when I'm trying to sleep. The company says it's to save power, but they could light it with an led and use very little power. They should change this feature.
Electrowarmth is available in more sizes than other manufacturers; that was important. Be sure to check actual measurements on your mattress and don't just go by size names. I found Twin XL from one company was really just the shorter twin length, and from Electrowarmth Twin XL is longer than my Twin XL mattress. But by checking the size in inches, I got a pad that was exactly right. I also liked that the electrical connection is just off the end of the pad, while another manufacturer had it on top of the pad, in the middle, right where my feet would be.
I also I like that it is made in the USA.
The sides could be a bit deeper to accommodate today's thick mattresses, but I was able to get the elastic edges to just barely fit. You can have one made with deeper sides by calling the factory and paying a bit extra, but they really should make this standard. My mattress is new but not overly thick, and it barely fits.
In summary, I'm giving this 5 stars because it does the job better than anything I've bought in the past, and it's the right size. I've been using it for about two months so I can't attest to how long it works. If I could I'd give it four and one-half stars because of the controller light, but I don't want to go as low as four. I think you'll be pleased with this purchase.
1) wires are thin and I am not aware that they are there
2) seems to warm the bed evenly
3) backlight on the controller turns off after about 15 seconds after making an adjustment to heating level
4) automatically turns off after 10 hours so I don't have to remember to turn it off in the morning
5) remembers the setting for when it was last turned off
6) absolutely no noise from the controller - apparently this is an issue with some brands / mattress pads
7) Made in USA
1) I have concerns about the controller's longevity since the plastic the covers the adjustment buttons seems thin and I worry about it cracking with frequent use...don't know if this will materialize as an actual problem though.
2) More expensive than most other made in China competitors, but that is to expected
3) I am 6'4" and my feet will hit the plug-in for the controller at the bottom of the mattress, but that is just a small annoyance.
I have had other heated mattress pads that did not last a single winter. I cannot speak to the longevity of this pad yet, but so far I am impressed with the overall quality and performance. I hope to have it for years to come.
