6pcs 170 tie-points breadboard
Top customer reviews
There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
I'm taking points off though because all three breadboards are visibly warped, and the holes seem really inconsistent. Some require a lot of pressure to insert a wire, and some are so loose they don't hold on to wires very well.
Doesn't come with a back plate so there is nothing to prevent the internal contacts from coming off. The sticker itself is not very strong so it will come off over time, even without applying force. Worst if you do apply force to insert pins.
The breadboards I received are original with the boxes shown in the official pictures, so it wasn't a problem of getting the wrong brand.
Why weren't my circuits working properly? Why was a 10 ohm resistor fluctuating between 1 AND 30 OHMS? Why were my I=V/R calculations not matching any multi-meter reads from the board?
Insert a component-- take a reading and remove the component. Insert the component again in the same manner, take another reading-- you will find that sometimes it is wildly different than the first.
To diagnose these problems I tried new jumper wires, different power sources, different multi-meters, different components-- lo and behold it was the boards. I bought different breadboards and my problems went away. (Side note: you might want to try more expensive non-Chinese breadboards on ebay for better quality, unfortunately not many choices out there)
Other than the contacts these boards look and feel great quality, but unfortunately they were useless in practice.
Seeing the latest reviews, I decided to give them another try. This time around I was very happy. They're a nice bright white and much stiffer plastic. And all 3 breadboards were completely flat. Connection points were a bit stiff at first but everything plugged in snugly.
Packaging and items look nice and high quality. Bright white plastic is always straight and square (unlike competitor boards with the seethrough plastic). Snap together easily in groups.
Standard 22ga wire seems too small for connections. I have been doubling up 22ga wire for power and ground to get a consistent connection. Very thin wires like standard LEDs are very inconsistent and loose. Even standard jumper wires are loose and sometimes don’t make contact.
Shorts happen. I’ve found a few lanes bleed into the next lane. This makes working with, well any project, a headache.
Bottom line.. they look nice, but are not functional. Buyer be ware.
All 3 boards have curves on both sides of the board (as if the center is sagging). The side connectors are little cylinders that can be removed with a fingernail, and the bottoms of the locks you're supposed to slide them into are covered by the tape.
Those nice little blue/red bus markings, the numbers, the letters all come off with a finger swipe. Mine already looks like I left it out in the rain since it's all smudged. I would not expect the markings to last even a single class.
Looks like they cut a ton of corners making this as cheap as possible, and while the inside metal connections seem to work well so far I wonder how long it will be until they start failing.
