Collects Elektra Assassin #1-8.

Meet Elektra Natchios, a young woman who has played many intriguing roles: gymnast, martial artist, ninja, assassin. But this enigmatic woman, trained in the arts of ninjitsu and renowned as the world's deadliest assassin ... is dead. Or is she? An unconscious woman washes ashore in a small Central American country. Two policemen are strangled. A diplomat is assassinated. A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is brutally dismembered. Unrelated events? Hardly. Elektra has returned. Whether she's been miraculously resurrected or this is an untold tale from Elektra's past is left for the reader to decide. But one thing remains certain, Elektra is back with a vengeance. From the combined talents of two of comics' greatest innovators - Frank Miller and Bill Sienkiewicz - comes this psychological excursion through the mind, body and soul of the world's most dangerous woman.

This is a great book and I am a fan of Frank Miller's older work with Batman and Daredevil. I didn't know much about Electra but this really peaked my interest into the Character more. The art is very unique but fits the character and story well.

I picked up the complete hardcopy set. And now, I bought the complete Kindle copy. Simply put, it's Frank Miller's best ever Elektra! Get it!

BUT, for those don't like reading looong drawn out comic stories, for those who are kinda' lazy to read a great story that has "too many words", for those who can't appreciate some of the best artwork Marvel has put out there... and I mean some of the BEST ARTWORK EVER! well then, you might not appreciate this brilliant piece of work.

However, to me, this is a Masterpiece! It's the some of the best Elektra stuff ever; storyline and artwork!

Like many of Frank Miller's work before the 1990s, ELEKTRA: ASSASSIN is magnificent on all accounts. It's also neat to see how around this time, and along with Miller's epic RONIN, Miller was splicing a myriad of genres and ideas, such as Sienkiewicz's noir styles to cyberpunk plot-twists, elements of obsession, subterfuge, shame, and even Philip K Dick concepts like memory implants.

If Marvel had half a brain, they'd promote this book to no end. The magnitude and rarity of this storytelling gem should be celebrated on a yearly basis. Miller's more recent work may be... unspeakable at times... but a comic like this shows what the medium and committed artists are capable of!

The art in this book is really fantastic. It's abstract enough to be playful, but realistic enough to render minute details that further the story.

The story is disjointed at first, and it takes some time to get used to. Miller is trying to approximate Elektra's broken psyche in the opening issue. It takes some getting used to, but it makes for a great second reading.

I'm still a bit confused about the book's ending. No spoilers, but I read it three times and can't quite wrap my head around it.

I get that there was an artistic choice in how to draw these images to tell these stories but it just didn't work for me. Now if it works for you then great. But it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Didn't live up to hype. It was an interesting concept but the story was hard to follow. Art was a little "out there" for my tastes. Definitely interesting and may be worth checking out.

Something about the writing of Frank Miller paired with the illustrations of Bill Sienkiewicz that truly makes this book so original and something that belongs in a prestigious museum.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greats, but I get why not everyone would agree
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 24, 2016
I read a borrowed copy a long time ago, and it made a vivid impression in my mind. I definitely consider this to be in the top 5 of the graphic novels. The combination of inventive art and story working well together make it great. It is deeply cynical. If you were watching it as a TV series or movie its pacing would be maddening. Structurally it may be considered difficult, with significant events being skipped over in the first person narrative and then suddenly you are with a different character after the event, which then leaves you to think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Um Achado

5.0 out of 5 stars Endlich eine würdige Edition dieses modernen Klassikers!
Reviewed in Germany on July 9, 2012
und seinen unsterblichen Klassikern "The Dark Knight Returns" und "Batman: Year One".

First read this in1986 in comic form which are in my collection somewhere. Just as good as I remember, in my opinion it has aged very well. Which is due to Millers storey & sienkiewicz ground breaking art. The Hardcover book is a great way of presenting this storey & is a good quality product
