I post this in case it is sold at discount again. I purchased it for $300 from a discounter. It, so far, is worth every penny. The picture has been bright and beautiful, no blur, no dead pixels. Mine was refurbished- and, I did buy a 2 yr. warranty for it ($64). Based on the price, being refurbished, and consumer reviews. Two difficulties. The HDMI ports are not ARC, so that they do not send back the TV sound to a sound bar or surround sound system via HDMI. However, in my case, the Digital Audio port allowed the sound to be redirected to my home theatre system. Second, I have not found the Digital Tuner to be useful (able to connect with any of our local TV stations). However, I do have an electric antennae which does the trick when connected. I feel good about the purchase. Especially knowing that if something goes wrong in the next two years, my warranty will cover in home service.

This was the first time I purchased a lesser known brand. Before Black Friday there weren't any reviews for this particular model television. I figured if I didn't like it I would simply return it. I am so, so, glad I purchased it! I also purchased one for my mother. Initially, I was extremely skeptical about the purchase. My assumptions were something will be inferior to the point of disappointment. The Element truly rocks! The picture is super bright and crisp. There are plenty of inputs available and the sound quality is astonishing. No wonder, its JBL. It is very hard to get this much television without it being a refurbished unit or open-box. 50 inches is a decent size viewing area for most people. Probably the best thing about the television is the small bezel size and light weight. You will not be disappointed in this unit. Even for $500 it is very competitive. For what its worth, I can remember when Vizio were on the "value-friendly " side. Now they dominate. Happy viewing.

Is it possible to rate this unit and Element Electronics a 'ZERO'? Not only are there problems with the TV (mine keeps randomly changing input source and channels) but I cannot get in touch with Element Electronics to work out a resolution either! Never, never, NEVER again!

Don't EVER buy anything from this company. They are the most worthless company ever. Seriously. I never write reviews, but this is just too much. I purchased 2 of these TV's on Black Friday 2013. The 1st one was rarely used, and after maybe 25 times, the picture went black. Still had audio, just no video. I even called the cable company thinking it couldn't possibly be the brand new TV. So, I tried numerous times to reach anyone from Element. They just send you to voicemail, after holding for 45 min. Unbelievable. So, I opened the other brand new TV, still in the box. And guess what, it has now done the exact same thing, except it only lasted for 10 times. So, I just got ahold of someone at Element, explained the situation, and they admit there is a problem (ya think???) with their TV's, but they can do nothing about it. So, be warned. I will never buy anything associated with this company ever again.

I returned the TV less then 24hr after buying the picture was great except the 4 grey spots that flair a bit in the center of the screen it isn't noticeable unless you have lighter backgrounds on screen I thought it was just the TV I bought but after going back to the store and looking closely at the display model it had the same issue for most people it's not a big deal for me it is now as far as sound goes I couldn't tell you I use a soundbar the TV would get a 4 for pic quality if it wasn't for the grey flair

I bought this for $218 at a Walmart Black Friday sale. I had to use the one-hour guarantee as they were out. I just picked it up yesterday and set it up last night. I got this to replace an older Sceptre TV I'd purchased quite a few years ago at Costco. Immediately upon setting it up and turning it on I was disappointed in the poor quality of the sound and picture - much inferior to the Sceptre I was replacing. I guess you get what you pay for! I might keep this for a bedroom, but not the quality I want in my family room.

I too bought this during black Friday of 13' for a spare room. We have used the TV no more than 50 hours since then and suddenly the tuner wouldn't pick up any channels. After troubleshooting with other TV's, other antennas, other cables, with all evidence pointing to a broken tuner, I called Element for a warranty repair. Apparently, they don't offer any repair, or replacement, only refund, and in addition, I have to pay for shipping. Obviously shipping on a sub $200 TV would totally negate the value of the initial purchase. Also, I can't even drop it off at their warehouse. I can only ship it. Terrible company. Great price during black Friday, and luckily I have a spare converter box that I just plug into the RGB ports, the TV isn't a paper weight. But I expected the TV to last at least a year with such minimal usage.
