Strange things start to happen when she runs into an old friend from high school named Ryan. The two have an unusual affect on each other for seemingly no reason (Not once does Natalie even consider the pills she's been taking to be the cause). The story would be a great read for anyone who enjoys young adult romance. However, those of the more paranormal/Science Fiction nature, will find this book lacking in the paranormal department until about charpter 6 or 7. Keep in mind this book only has 8 chapters total.
If I had written this, I would have waited for Element part 2 to be completed and then simply merged the two novellas into one novel to give the reader a better experience with the story as a whole.
I still look forward to reading Element Part 2 since it picks up where this one leaves off and I already know since the paranormal elements come into play at the end of this one that they will be there in force in the second one.
New Readers, I urge you not to stop reading this series simply because this part didn't live up to your standards, pick up a copy of Part 2 and see how the story plays out, you may get surprised.
I give this book 3 of 5 paws
Although this book has many reviews, but there does not mean this is a great story. One thing to determine is the author construct the sentences, scenes, dialogues between characters, ending and many others. As I was flipped from pages to pages, I noticed one sentence/quote that is worth mentioning, it is "Natalie shook her head. "No, you're right. I can't stay in recluse forever. I have to get out and enjoy life." To many, this sentence is very ordinary, but to me, It tells me that the main character, Natalie is really a confident person and can't really stands insincere people. The author does know how to bring out Natalie's character. Good job.
This is a paranormal & fantasy novel with some romance, actions, and mystery elements in it. The novel has a present-day setting, focusing on the school grounds and on the Kronberg Lab. Overall, this novel is well-suited for young adults.
As mentioned above, the main character, Natalie is a beautiful college student, having great ambition to be a scientist, nerdy and at times very sensitive to small issue. The relationship between Natalie and Ryan does make the story romantic, although they are afraid to hurt each other. Not to give away too much, you should read this story to get a taste of Natalie's superhuman strength.
What I like about this novel is the fast pace action among the characters, how the author builds the story, and does have some amusing moments among the characters. The plot is simple to follow and is suitable to mostly young adult. There are some scenes that really caught me by surprise. Rest assured that if you think, you aren't able to identify who are the good and bad guys, think again.
If you are looking for some suspense coupled with romance scenes, then you should read this part 1 of the series. You'll definitely get lots of entertainment and enjoyment out of this novel series. I like the cover art. It does catch my attention though.
If there's one thing I'd change about this book, it would be to do some minor editing to the story. I hope that the author would hire an editor to re-look this manuscript. She should try to tone down Natalie as at times, she is over-dramatic.
This book looked great on my Kindle Fire HD tablet with good formatting and layout. I highly recommended it.
C.M. Doporto with just this one book as hurled into my top ten favorite authors. I can't wait for more from C.M. Doporto!
