I bought this for use with a magnetic stir plate to make 2 liter yeast starters for my beer brewing. I've used it on at least 3 brews now. The borosilicate glass comes in very handy for when I'm adding boiling water and malt extract. For those who may not know, borosilicate glass is generally stronger and far less prone to breakage when exposed to heat. I still wouldn't put it on my stove-top, but (in theory) it would work fine. The stopper is adequate for storing the flask.
If you plan on using this for beer brewing, add a drilled stopper for this flask to your order. That way you can use it with a brewing airlock or blow-off tube. Otherwise, you'll have to find another creative way to keep the starter protected while allowing excess CO2 to escape.
Honestly, I can't think of any problems with the product. It's a flask, so there isn't much that can go wrong with it. For your yeast starter purposes, it'll easily serve you well.
For brews over 1.050 SG, I'd say that this would be a perfect size flask. Higher ABV beers need bigger starters and more yeast. As such, I may try getting my hands on a 1000ml flask smaller brews of less than 1.050 SG in total.

The flask arrived today cracked along the neck, extending into the rim at the top. Sending it back and getting a refund to apply toward a better flask. Reading the other reviewers saying that theirs arrived dirty and with lots of bubbles in the glass, I have to agree. This flask looks as though it was cheaply produced and stored in a clumsy manner. Sometimes when you try to get by on the cheap, that's exactly what you get: Cheap.
