Editorial Reviews

"The Elephant and the Sheep by Patricia Furstenberg is a fun little book. The story is about an elephant and a sheep that become friends. Eachday they meet at the water puddle, but somehow the elephant alwaysarrives first. The sheep tries to beat the elephant to the water puddlefirst, but each day manages to always arrive second. Until one day thesheep discovers what the elephant's secret is. I liked The Elephant andthe Sheep, but at the same time it made me sad. The elephant's secretwas heartbreaking. The sheep was a very good friend to invite theelephant back to his home. I could not help but wonder what adventureslay ahead for this unique duo. I was surprised that this book wasinspired by a true story. Furstenberg has piqued my interest in learning more about the original story.

I read this story with my six-year-old daughter who loves animals; shethought the sheep and the elephant were a funny pair. She was wonderingwhy the elephant lived where he did. The wording in the book is easy toread and in a poetic style. We both liked the illustrations. They arecolorful and cute. I really liked the message that Furstenberg put intothis story. It is one that children need to learn at an early age.Overall, my child and I enjoyed this book. My child was curious aboutthe other animal books that Furstenberg has written. So, we plan onreading the others together soon. I recommend this book for anyone withyoung children."

From the Author

I've often watched my parents interact with my children and noticed, with amazement, that special bond between them everyone talks about. Itis an invisible string that makes them smile as soon as they lay eyes on each other and it pulls them together in a fun activity filled withlaughterand giggles.

My mother is the one they would want forpretendgames, yet it is my father they prefer for story time. Perhapsbecausegrandfathers, with their solid appearance, are nothing butgentle giantswhen it comes to their own grandchildren and, admit it,nothing cancompare with a grandfather's ability to mimic someone else's voice!

I still remember my own grandfather telling my cousin and I a story with Prince Charming which used to pick his nose :)

I hope you will enjoy my books just as much as I loved writing them.
