Here Dick's making presidential decisions w/o authority and then pretending he didn't. Not a big surprise. Reminds me Alexander Haig yelling, "I'm in charge here!" when Reagan got shot. Anyway, the book details coverups galore throughout the U.S. government regarding 9/11. They are hiding plenty. But contrary to conspiracy wacko opinion, there is no evidence that Bush et al was behind the deed. And all the other idiotic theories about missiles and no planes and explosives bringing down the bldgs and blah blah blah are just absolute garbage... only paranoid dolts who grew up watching modern trashy movies believe that stuff. Unfortunately this book won't convince the wackos that they're wrong... nothing will. The coverups are trying to hide govt incompetence. They were asleep at the wheel. The CIA was probably trying to turn some hijackers into double agents instead of arresting them, oops. Saudi Arabia stinks to high heaven but hey, they supply lots of oil.

So here's the bottom line: A bunch of zealots who believe in a twisted version of Islam were behind the attack. Our govt wasn't prepared, which if you've ever been in a govt office, shouldn't come as a big surprise. Multiple agencies had to sort through massive amounts of incoming information from lots of sources in the space of an hour that morning. Of course they were confused! Duh! But they don't want you to know that, so they made up half-truths and left out other info etc. But the standard govt story about 9/11 is pretty close to the real truth, just retouched a bit to make the govt seem a little more on the ball than they really were.

One thought-provoking part of the book delves into the fact that many people around the world did not see 9/11 as a great tragedy, but instead they viewed it as well-deserved payback for bad behavior. It's got nothing to do with them "hating us for our freedom" or related propaganda. As someone asked, "How would you like it if heavily armed teenagers from the Middle East were patrolling the streets of America and telling you what to do?"

The first third of the book was seriously engrossing, when they relived the Horrible Day. After that it got somewhat tedious unless you're really into sifting thru a lot of detail.

My husband read this and said that the first third was fantastic, the middle lagged a bit but still okay, and the last section seemed more conspiracy-ish. If you don't mind that, it's good!

Just got this for my birthday, really looking forward to delving into this as Anthony Summers is a terrific muckraking old-school journalist and his book on Nixon one of the most fun, vivid chronicles of wickedness ever written: though I imagine the tone of this given the subject matter must be dramatically different, it's an important story that needs a Summers to tell it in all its confusion, horror and mystery.

Its a nice overview but by no means a complete one. Glad to see that 9 - 11 was solved by UFO researchers and to know that the disaster is by no means as serious as described by the media. Its sad to know that we have youtube videos where the uploader asserts that reciting from copies of the 9 - 11 Commission Report can exorcise demons. Well balanced and thought out, this is a clever overview that does not attempt to go anywhere near as far. Despite my view mentions UFO researchers please note that this book has no need to do so. Its when 'the hijackers were following their instructions in arabic'when said explanation, with its united nonsense begins to collapse. But this book is just a summary, and no attempt to completely solve whatever remains of 9 - 11 mysteries.

I found this book to be very interesting & very informative as to what went on in 9/11 that we did not know about. If you love history as I do, I would highly recommend that you get this book to find out more about what happened on that historical day!

Even though the author's stated they found no evidence of the Bush administration causing 9/11, considering all the conspiracy theories, there is still a strong enough basis in this book for them to be held accountable. Great book.

This was an amazing book. You can see why it was in the running for the Pulitzer. Anthony Summers is a great writer. When it says 'full story' it really was.
