10/10 Would buy again.
The doctor said it was the cleanest cut he'd ever seen.
If you're looking for a substantial outdoor use blade that's under 15$, I'd say this is the best one I've tried yet.
If the value you place on your life equals the price of a hamburger w/cheese meal for two you are in need of sympathy for buying this knife as your MAIN survival knife.
Oh yeah, for all those who love to chop wood out there..., , last time I checked...., an ax or machete works well for chopping wood , NOT A KNIFE!!
This knife is for a fall-back plan if the SHTF and you need to bug-out with at least something for cutting, and to be used to make other tools that you'd need to survive. This knife came reasonably sharp but with a good set of sharpening stones it is now razor sharp, I kid you not. You want to sharpen it so that you can use this knife for cutting game, rope, wire, tree skin ( bark?), and make if need be , arrows, spears, and to fashion wood as tools or more into various uses.
The metal is adequate and is not brittle and non-pliable. The sheath is simply wonderful for holding the knife securely and attaching to a waist belt. I would advise against using the paracord to strap it to a leg, let it be able to swing freely and be comfortable. No one gives the Chinese manufacturer props for at least supplying paracord on the knife and sheath. I burnt the ends of my paracord with a lighter so that it formed a "ball" and would not unravel and fray. This is standard practice. I would wrap masking tape , sticky side OUT around the handle for it to be grippy. "Yes" you do that by going once around the handle, for the initial grip, then TWIST the masking tape so the sticky side is now out. Now simply keep wrapping around the handle. Presto! a really grippy handle for those persons that buy this knife to chop wood. Seriously though, the reverse masking tape wrap DOES work and gives you a firm grip on this knife. The handle is a tad slippery
Try to remove the Allen Key slotted screw on piece on the end , drop some oil ( yeah ..,motor oil can work ) inside the handle and then re-attach the screw on piece with medium pressure . This will prevent any rust when the knife gets wet by thoroughly covering the non-full length "tang" with a coating of oil. Wipe off any excess oil . Once sharpened, and after the handle is wrapped in reverse-side masking tape , AND you've oiled the inside of the handle, Smear oil on the blade and other metal parts and then store in sheath for when you will need the knife or when the zombies attack. I sharpened the EDGES and ONLY the extreme edges of the saw so they will cut SMALL branches more easily. I also spray AmorAll liberally on the sheath strap (?) to protect it against oxidation and eventual rot caused by the UV light from the Sun. Despite this material being polyester , UV light from the Sun will degrade the knife sheath . Been doing this preservation of Polyester webbing for years and it does extend useful life of material that gets sprayed .
In closing, I find it annoying and get s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o mad when people expect a hamburger meal for two cost knife to be just like the one Rambo has . This is a back-up or " at least I'll have something to help me in an emergency " type of knife. What moron uses a knife to chop wood? In an emergency we'd want a sharp ( did I mention that this knife sharpens up quite well ? ) and reasonable sturdy knife for making other survival tools , skinning or filleting killed animals and yes, being able to kill zombies reasonably well. If I needed to have this in a bug out bag ( look that up in Google ) or on my person during a hike, its a GREAT value , ( except for those who must be able to chop wood)
You are not fighting in a Rambo movie, you are not using this knife to cut 3-6 diameter logs to build that log cabin you've dreamed about all your life. This knife is for basic, toolmaking and woodsmanship in a SHTF or even a simple day hike. Carry an Ax, Hammer, and crow bar for the heavy duty stuff.
Honestly folks ..., it's a $12.00 knife!. Be fair in your expectations and read all the reviews
Some of you guys are laughable in your expectations Most of you however, LOVE this knife .
Well worth it and I will be buying another.
