I am not an EMT nor do I have medical training. Speaking strictly as a former boy scout with basic first aid certification I feel this kit would be helpful in administering first aid for reduction of bleeding and stabilization of wounds until help from trained medical personnel arrives. The amount of serious trauma oriented materials in here will go well beyond your standard household emergency, but the price is very reasonable so why not have a kit like this ready? I would like to see an inventory included with the kit but I could not find one, so I made my own table of contents by pouch. The kit is divided into 6 equally sized pouches, and here is what I found in each of the pouches on the kit I recieved:

Elite Large Fully Stocked GI First Aid Kit Contents:
Pouch 1
QTY ITEM
10 5"x9" ABD Pad
2 BleedStop Bandage
1 Multi-Trauma Dressing 12"x30"
1 Universal Splint 36"

Pouch 2
QTY ITEM
1 First Aid Quick Guide
1 Small Flashlight w/Eye Dilation Chart
2 Surgical Blades

2 Nylon filament suture, 1.5 metric

Growing up, my Mom was a nurse so her first aid kit was literally like a surgical suite. Most commercial first aid kits are a joke and a waste of money. This one is worth every penny! Throw in some quickclot, israeli bandages, an aluminum splint, some chest seals, and a dental kit and you are ready for almost anything!

There is no harm in being slightly overly prepared.

i was looking at the s.t.o.m.p. trauma kit, but it is priced around $500. so i did some comparison. i ordered the m-71 kit seen here. then went online to a medical supply and ordered $50 more equipment. the m_71 plus what i ordered now superceeds the stomp and for $300 cheaper. i now have a heavy trauma kit that i keep around the home and take with me everywhere i go. this is easy to unfold to get to the 3 zippered layers. it is light to carry and is a rugged case. if you want a very good 1st aid kit that is a heavy use to carry in your car.

The natural question that arises when considering buying a kit of any sort is,"would it be cheaper to buy separately the individual items that make up the kit?".

In this case, I think this is a solid buy and a serious emergency response medic bag, and cheaper than trying to buy the individual components.

This is a good kit.

It's compact, well made and carries decently. It opens up into three separate, connected modules with two zippered enclosures in each. Not a lot of pockets and cubby holes - a few, but these pockets are nice and large, and it all fits nicely. Every sterile item is waterproof, and everything else is sealed in heavy-gauge zip-lock bags. Not water proof overall, but lining each inner pocket with a large zip-lock would do nicely.

This bag is very much intended for a combat field medic. The overall appearance says "Boy Scouts", but they don't bleed enough to require this thing. It is assembled for the treatment of serious combat wounds. There are a ton of large, sterile dressings.

There are many other important items as well, and it is fairly complete - let's call it the foundation for a great kit.

Anyone facing a scenario with arterial bleeding or 2nd and 3rd degree burns, this is your bag. Knife, gunshot and shrapnel wounds, etc. I'd keep one at home in an area prone to tornadoes or earthquakes. If not your exact reality - I'd buy an empty pack instead, and fill that as per your specific needs.

Another idea would be to remove and store some of the compresses in this kit and use the space for items you might need more. Like I said - good foundation and could be built into the perfect response kit for your specific needs.

I love the product, as an EMT I believe this is a good product. A few things in there are way out of my or anyone besides a physician's scope of practice. I would do yourself a favor and remove the scalpels, suture kits, and latex gloves from the kit. Latex is a very common allergy for people to have, and can be dangerous "get nitrile" And the second someone who's not a doctor touches someone's skin with that scalpel, or sutures just plan on getting sued and thrown in jail.
Overall a great product, and worth every cent. Very high quality bag, and everything inside is top notch. Seller takes a very long time to get it to the shipper though.

THESE COMBAT MEDIC BAGS WERE USED IN THE LATE 90'S FOR FRONT LINE MEDICS IN THE U.S. ARMY. I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE BAGS EMPTY AND CREATED A STOCK LIST WITH THE HELP OF AN OLD ARMY BUDDY OF MINE. AFTER A TRIP TO MY LOCAL E.M.S. WHOLESALE HOUSE I HAD TWO CUSTOM TRAUMA BAGS ONE FOR MY HOME AND ONE FOR MY VEHICLE. THE SIX SEPARATE ZIPPERED POUCHES ARE LARGE ENOUGH TO CARRY ALL YOUR NEEDS. I EVEN HAVE AN AMBU BAG IN ONE POUCH FOR THE MEDIC BAG I KEEP IN THE VEHICLE. THESE BAGS THAT COME FULLY STOCKED ARE MORE THAN CAPABLE OF HANDLING MOST MAJOR TRAUMA INCIDENTS. YOU JUST CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THESE COMBAT MEDIC BAGS.
