On that note, if the "spine" should be IN the screen not behind it. It took us about 20 min and some wall scratches before we had that one figured out. (we were tired!)
However, after placed on the wall, the screen was great! The black border is velvet, the screen (after stretched to fit) was smooth and clean, the size was perfect and it looks so much better then a pull down would have.
Removing 1 star for bad assembly directions, but this makes the room look like a real theater, even when the projector is off.
The frame comes in six pieces that fasten together with screws. Then the screen unrolls and is stretched into place bit by bit using about 50 plastic clips, each installed in sequence to ensure the material stretches uniformly. The screen tension is so tight that horizontal frame pieces will tend to bow inward. The manufacturer supplies a thin aluminum rod that spans the two horizontal pieces behind the screen to ensure the assembled product remains a true rectangle. Like I said, the final product is a very attractive screen that has decent gain, no wrinkles, and is tight as a drum...but you have to work pretty hard for it.
I have been using this for more than a year now and am completely happy with it.
I have a Benq W1070 1080P projector and they make for a great combination. Also really quite affordable compared to the very large screen HD TVs.
The screen I had before this was a pull down projector screen in closer to a 4:3 format that I paid around $100 for. I can say I've seen some improved image quality with the Elite Screens screen and I like the HDTV frame size. Since I split my time with it mostly between video games (which are 16:9) and watching moves (which are mostly 2.35:1) I was torn deciding whether to go 16:9 or 2.35:1. All in all I think I'm satisfied with the 16:9 format.
The frame was easy to assemble, but one of the corner brackets had a problem so I positioned it where the tension of the screen material would hold the corner in place and it worked ok.
My son and I had to move some furniture to create enough space to lay it flat. Once we rolled out the screen material, I wondered if they had sent the wrong size screen - it looked so small. It took both of us to stretch and insert the clips that hold the screen material in place. I do not think this is a job for one person or someone with limited hand and finger strength.
Once it was all stretched it looks great. Mounting it on the wall was easy but I think I will install a small tab to keep it from rising up and coming off the wall brackets. Not a flaw in the parts but to provide a little insurance that it doesn't fall off the wall if it is bumped.

I won't detour anyone away from this screen, but just a heads up so you won't try to set up like I did and just return the darn thing if u see it is wrinkled.
And then the results of the picture quality was fantastic. I just have a BenQ 1080p projector I paid 1100 for. Everyone that sees the picture on screen
is practically speechless. Highly reccomend the Elite Screen!
