EK MechLube 2 has been formulated for keyboard applications where a low-viscosity lubricant is desired. The addition of PTFE (also known as Teflon) helps keep parts moving as smoothly as possible.

MechLube 2 is best used on plastic-plastic matings with tight tolerances like switch guides, switch stems, and stabilizers; specifically Realforce and HHKB keyboards as well as Cherry and ALPS switch stems. It is non-reactive and has wide temperature stability, but may need to be reapplied every 6 months or so.

~ APPLICATION ~

MechLube 2's curved-tip syringe makes application in tight spots a breeze. The red arrows in the photo examples provided on this page point towards the most common greasing points of mechanical keyboards stabilizers. It's a good idea to first test how much grease comes out of the tip at a given pressure before applying it to your stabilizers; the curved tip can be trimmed with scissors if the grease flow is too slow. Only a hairs breadth of grease is needed in most applications! Warning -- Application to switch stem guides is not recommended unless noticeable friction due to age and wear is present. Only the smallest amount is needed!

Great fix for rattling stabilizers.

I recently bought a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Gaming Keyboard and it was far from what I consider quiet. After o-ringing it, it got better but the keys with stabilizers still sounded horrible. A popular review site recommended a lube that cost almost as much as much keyboard, so I kept searching and found this lube. For the price, why not. I lightly applied lube to all stabilizer contact points and it worked wonderfully. It's far from the quietness of a high end keyboard with PBT caps, and a far cry from a membrane, but this lube did what Razer should have done from the factory, it keeps the stabilizers from rattling around and makes the keys it was used on smooth as butter. The curved tip made it super easy to get into the tight places.

I've used this to lube stabilizers and switches and it really makes a huge difference. I can't possibly go back to unlubed stabilizers now. I lubed Gateron Browns and they are now smooth as butter. It lasts you a long time too. I've lubed about 5 sets of stabs, and around 150 switches and I still have 70% left.

Great for squeeky mechanical keyboards

If you have a mechanical keyboard and certain keys (like backspace or space) squeek, it's because of plastic rubbing against plastic, and this lubricant works perfectly! You just need to pull the key, apply some to the area that rubs, and put the key back on. My CODE keyboard is perfectly clicky without being squeeky now!

This product is amazing. I work in a computer lab at a high school and my students think I went around and replaced all of the sticky keys on their keyboards. What I really did was apply a dabble of this MechLube to the sticky keys. Way cheaper fix!
