Superior Technology. Superior Strings.
Less Sweat, Debris, And Finger Squeak
The way your strings sound has a lot to do with what you normally can’t see. While both of our patented coatings reduce noisy finger squeak, they also cut down on a large number of other pesky annoyances common to your average uncoated string. Sweat, skin, dirt, and even air, for example, can do a lot of damage to your strings. And if you live in a hot, humid area, the moisture in the atmosphere can wreak total havoc on your strings’ tone life. But with Elixir Strings, you’re getting world-class protection that’s engineered to endure.
Polyweb Coating Vs NANOWEB Coating
POLYWEB Coating was our first coated string innovation all the way back in the '90s. It tends to warm and mellow the string’s tone and has a fast, slick feel that’s gentle on the fingers, which lets players keep jamming without the strings getting in the way. As a response to players who said they prefer a more traditional feel, NANOWEB Coating was then designed. This ultra-thin coating allows a brighter, crisper tone while offering the same amount of tone-life protection as its predecessor.
Coated Like No Other
Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. That’s why Elixir strings retain their tone longer than any other brand’s string, coated or uncoated. Simply put, build-up and corrosion kill your tone, and Elixir strings protect against elements that cause build-up and corrosion. All while sounding exactly how you’d expect a premium set of strings to sound.
Corrosion protection between wrap wire windings is all well and good, but you may be asking yourself, 'What about the strings that don’t have a wrap wire?' And we’re proud to tell you, don’t worry—we’ve got those covered too. Literally. With our signature Anti-Rust Plating, even your plain steel strings defy the elements. This ensures longer tone life not just for your coated wound strings, but for your entire set. When we say you’ll have more gigging, jamming, touring, or practice time between string changes, we mean it.

Jam on and on (and on) with the same premium acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set. Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes? Crafted to last, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a warm, robust tone that sounds “played-in” right out of the pack while still retaining a remarkably clear mid-range presence. The POLYWEB Coating brings a soft, slick, and fast feel to the playing experience. For a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel, try our ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating. The 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, for example, might be a good fit, especially if you’re also looking for a crisper, brighter, and more vibrant tone. For strings that strike a dynamic balance between full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity, our Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings deliver exactly that alongside our NANOWEB Coating’s more traditional feel. Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. For a more in-depth look at what makes our strings so special, scroll to the branded info further down the page. Top customer reviews
I've tried d'addario and when new are much better than the elixir. But for me, after a week they sound from amazing to pretty good. After a month, they sound pretty bad.
These elixir strings sounded overly bright and uneven when they were knew but after a few days mellowed out. Now after a month, they still sound fantastic and I can't hear the sound degrading week to week.
So d'addario strings are like 3-4 bucks and depending on how often you change them, the 3 pack will last between a few weeks to a few months (at this point you'll be playing with bad sound on strings more than new)
Elixir strings lasted a month and going strong for 12 ish bucks. Even if they don't last a few months (which they probably will) you'll be playing with good sounding strings the whole time
I can't honestly say these are the only good strings on the market. I've used other good ones, and I've particularly liked D'addario Phosphor Bronze. But dang, these are really good strings. Grove likes them because he says his corrosive sweat destroys other strings in a matter of hours, or sooner, while these never need changing no matter how sweaty his gigs are. Well, I'll take his word on that, but I'm not a gigging guitarist, nor am I particularly sweaty. I just like these because they have a bright, full sound, they stay in tune like nobody's damn business, they minimize string noise, they feel great under my fingertips... and I hate, hate, hate changing strings. I'm going to keep these things on my Washburn EA20 for the foreseeable future, and if Grove is right, they may last for years. If that's true, I'll be an even happier camper. If not, well, I'm loving these anyway. I don't see any down side, except that they cost a few bucks more, but I'm glad to pay that if I get even double the string life, let alone the near-eternal string life that the very excitable Grove suggests.
Oh, and if you haven't seen his video (and/or don't like his verbose and "unusual" style), he claims that Elixir Nanowebs are horrible, and only the Polywebs are any good. I can't vouch for that, but I can tell you that in this particular case, he was right about the Polywebs. My advice as always is to listen to everyone, take it all with a grain of salt, and decide what's best for your own fingers and your own sound.
Much better that the OEM strings that I have been using for ever and a day. So I am not going back
These strings are sweet, bright, great sustain and they stay in tune right from the get go.
The thing that first got my attention was the light touch, this increased my speed, and accuracy, not to mention the comfort factor on my finger tips. I can play longer without fatigue and discomfort, even tuned to concert pitch(440hz)
This is my first set and I cannot wait to put these on my D-28, and the D12-28 Martin, that I am using the OEM type strings. I am glad to see they make these in a 12 string too.
At this price get a couple of sets and give them a try on your favorite guitar you will be a believer too.
