Some Spoilers ahead:
Ella, her jerk of a husband David, and their 3 children are part of a re-population colony trying to escape the last days of a dying Earth. There is a major twist on how and where they will travel to. The new Earth now called the Eden Venture, obviously does not go as planned which gives the basis for most of the book. I really admired the way the author was able to get past the sci-fi aspect and engage the reader into the new "Eden". How does a civilization thrive or fail in the circumstance of plenty and adversity? What sacrifices would have to be made to ensure the survival of Mankind in the new Eden? These are all questions that the author tried to fictionally answer without the book turning into a anthropology lesson.
After reading this book, I'm curious enough to check out what else the author has written.
Overall this story makes you think. It is very in depth work and I didn't know whether that was good or not.
