This is likely to appeal to those seeking athletic yoga as well as those who only want "purist" yoga. The issue with some athletic yoga done by instructors who do not specialise in yoga is that the lack of "yoga depth" is apparent to purists. Tara Stiles, young though she is, seems to have a mature appreciation of yoga as an exercise form. She is devoid new-age woo-woo talk (at least on this DVD) - this is a yoga "workout".

The DVD has two short routines - great as a tack-on or for those with limited time for yoga. Routine 1 is 20 minutes and is more flexibility oriented, but with some strength thrown in. Routine 2 is more challenging - it works on strength and has a heart rate elevation effect and takes 25 minutes.

What I liked:
-> Tara Stiles is spectacular to watch at yoga. She is limber, tall, and it seems like her body was designed for yoga. I find her on-screen personality very likeable.
-> The flow is pretty different from the typical yoga vinyasa workout. No sun salutations. She starts Routine 2 with a one minute plank. Near the end, you find yourself in plank again and she makes you hold it again for one minute. When I do planks I am mentally counting down seconds. She cues you to take ten deep breaths. Planks seem a whole lot easier when you count down 10 rather than 60.
-> She manages to cover a lot of ground in a limited time. She works in crow, bridge, wheel, shoulder stand, plough, planks, bow, cosmic dancer, half moon, garland, down-dog variations, splits and some standing poses if you do them both end to end. A cool balance flow is incorporated (one legged, standing) too.

Factors to consider:
-> Moves fast at times. If you like to take time to find your alignment, there will be opportunities in some but not all poses.

I am not a professional yoga person or a beginner for that matter. I tried different styles and bought this thinking I could do some yoga at home. And granted I just tried it once and I am not the best at coordination or paying attention... however they go way too fast. Yes you get a workout, but not a relaxing one that incorporates enough breathing focus. They whip through it. Eventually I will able to keep up. However I did like the 5 minutes of restorative on the dvd in the bonus section.

i wish i could give this 0 stars!! i bought the ipad application of this product and suddenly the videos stopped playing altogether!!! yes, that is right!!! the brocklyn and tara stiles videos stoppend playing as the appliction stopped working. Great way to sucker your fans Tara, Brooklyn, and elle magazine!!! i will never purchase any of your products again!!! and this is because the videos were not even that good.... The least Elle magazine could do is send me the videos. i am very unhappy!!!!

I loved this video. Initially, I thought it was too difficult especially the second routine but after sticking with it, I noticed a huge improvement in flexibility and strength. Don't expect to get anywhere near what Tara can do (her flexibility is insane) but the poses can be easily modified (such as the splits) and you can feel that you're getting a really good cardio workout. I like that it's challenging because there's room for improvement. You can feel yourself getting stronger with each try (the second video has a lot of plank poses which is great for the core/arms)

Overall, this video is great for people who are looking for a cardio-type yoga. I find a lot of slower paced yoga videos slightly boring but with these routines, time flies because they're fast-paced and challenging. I've been doing the routine every morning for weeks and I have yet to get bored.

You don't have to be a hardcore yogi for this dvd. The moves aren't too difficult and don't require superhuman flexibility(although Stiles does exhibit it!). The first segment is extremely easy and Perfect for stretching and just making you feel really good about yourself. The second segment at first had me shaking and falling on my mat but now after a few months of once a week sessions I can balance like I'm in the circus(small exaggeration) and am so close to getting crow pose(that balancing act where you fold your body up and stand on only your hands). This is one of my favorite dvds and some advice from me:GET IT!

The first workout was a very nice one. Though you have to pay attention to the explanation while you are going through your poses. I would try and get good at the first workout before moving on to the second one because I found it to be for more advanced yoga practice-rs. Overall I found it very relaxing and as a beginner it was very informative.

There are many advanced poses such as splits, etc, no modifications. This is an advanced workout, especially the 2nd one which I previewed and didn't attempt. The 1st workout is okay; I didn't do the splits and I modified a couple of other poses on my own.

I have taken yoga classes before but i still always love this dvd more.
I have only completed the first yoga workout which is for beginners/intermedate. I love it!
i always get a great stretch and still burning calories.
I have tried during the 2nd workout but it is still to hard for me...i can only do the 1st ten minutes or so. I would say the 2nd workout is very more advanced.
Great dvd! i do not regret getting it at all even after doing the same workout 100 times!
