Lousy Paint Markers, Elmer's - Serious Disappointment

These paint markers were a disappointment. I thought I couldn't go wrong with Elmer's, but I was mistaken. These are skip too much, as shown in the picture below. I am quite experienced using paint markers, so it is not something I am doing incorrectly. I have, however, noticed that most neon paint markers, standard markers, and gel pens do not work as well as non-neon. It must be something chemical that is used to make them "neon" that affects the way they operate.

Overall I've been quite disappointed with all Elmer's Paint Markers I have purchased, including these ELMERS Painters Acrylic Medium Tip Paint Markers, Eastern Empire Colors, Set of 5 (7528) and these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001KZH28W/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2. I will stick with the best paint markers I have ever owned, these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ANVDMU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The only reasons I purchased Elmer's were: 1) the Uni-Posca are not available in as many colors or finishes (no opaque or neon); 2) I thought I could trust an Elmer's product.

These were certainly not worth the price, and I wish that I had returned them. These may have gotten 3 stars from me if they'd been about 1/4 of the price; however, they would never get more than 3 even if they were free.

Shipping was fast. At first when I tried to use the paint pens I didn't see any paint on the tip. So I shook the crap out of the pen and still, just a faint amount. Then I accidentally pressed the felt tip so that it would retract into the tube...BINGO!!! The paint came out just fine on the tip. My guess is that the markers are designed that way so that they last longer by having an internal seal to keep from drying out. To engage just press the felt tip down 1/2 the length into the tube and the tip absorbs the paint to use.

I use these to mark my queen bees so that they are easier to find when I am working in the beehive. I work the tip before touching the queen's back so its has a nice glob of paint on the ready.

Would buy again.

love these marker paint pens. easy use, last a long time, great colors, the only prob is the wrapper !! just opening them the plastic peels off in crazy ways. there is a perforation where the plastic is supposed to peel but does not work most of the time. I like the pens to keep the plastic over the bottom of the marker because of the color name etc....look how two sets turned on in my pic. eewww

Great for little paint jobs

I've used these a lot and they're very handy. I've got a lot of laptops that have hard to find headphone jacks. A little bit of neon green paint and everyone can quickly find the right jack. Same for the CD-eject buttons, network jacks and power plugs. Everything gets a bit of paint so first time users can quickly find what they need.

Cons:
The paint doesn't flow very smoothly, they start with a glob then smooth out. I've learned to start on scratch paper before actually painting anything.
They don't have a long shelf life. If you use them then leave them in a drawer for a month there's a 75% chance they'll work, at 6 months that's down to a 25% chance they'll work.

I have used this brand of paint pens since 1995 when I opened my sign shop. The Elmer's paint inside is wonderful, UV savvy and the pens are so easy to use. I have had sets of them last for a year or more with regular use. I bought the neon ones and they stink. The ink is so thick it will barely move down the felt tip. They act like other Elmer's pens do when they are on their last leg, drying up and running out of paint. I don't know if I got an old set or what. All I know is that the quality of this particular set is so bad I give it a NEGATIVE 10 rating. I have used all of the other colors and I use them for so MANY things. They are the best go-to method of applying some permanent paint in small controlled areas or even a few larger areas. Maybe the neon color affects the quality of the paint. I don't know. The set I got was very terrible and not up to the top notch standard that I expect from Elmer's Paint Pens. BUMMER!

Bought these to draw "graffiti" onto black paper walls. The color was crisp and bright, but the pen nibs kept falling out. Like most paint pens these sometimes clog and leave large splotches of color. Worked well enough except for the nibs falling out. Very strange, that. We bought several packages so lost nibs were just replaced with one from another pen. Still weird and annoying to deal with.l

Just okay- marker tip fell out!

First of all, these are a little hard to open, as each individual pen has hard plastic shrink wrap around it. The first pen I used worked okay at first. The second time (about 20 minutes later), I shook the first pen again to mix the paint up, and when I opened it, the marker tip (the foamy fabric portion that absorbs the fabric) started falling out of the plastic marker. This made the pen only work when pressed down (so the tip was back in place) and it delivered blobs of paint. I was using these on cardboard and the paint did not apply evenly or consistently. I would hesitate to use these on a slicker surface. I definitely wouldn't buy these again.

Works great but not much paint

These are fun and easy to use. Just like markers. Paint is a little thin sometimes. I bought these for my 6 year old who really wants to paint on a canvas like me but I thought he might be frustrated with brushes. I thought this would be a fun step up from markers and would have a great result. This is true but only for very small areas. There is not much paint in these paint pens so they run out after covering much area at all. Very frustrating. Not very cost effective to keep buying entire sets for the job. So, these are best for lettering and small jobs. Use regular paint if you want to fill in any decent sized areas.
