About the Author

Dr. Norma Irene Scudder wrote and illustrated this little tale of Elmo and his adventures on the Oklahoma plains. She received her Master of Education (Elementary) and her Master of Art Education from Oklahoma City University. She earned her Doctorate of Education from Oklahoma State University in 1988. Dr. Scudder was employed as a teacher in public schools for twenty-two years. Dr. Scudder was hired by Mid-America Christian University in 1987 where she attained the position of Director of Teacher Education, Full Professor. Dr. Scudder retired from MACU in 1998 when the effects of Alzheimer's disease first began to affect her life. Since that time she has held on to a desire to republish her book. While in the early stages of Alzheimer’s she transformed the original brown and white images of the first edition into the full color images of the second edition. Alzheimer’s has eroded her knowledge and memories but she has hung on to the desire to complete this project.
