About the Author
Elmore Leonard wrote more than forty books during his long career, including the bestsellers Raylan, Tishomingo Blues, Be Cool, Get Shorty, and Rum Punch, as well as the acclaimed collection When the Women Come Out to Dance, which was a New York Times Notable Book. Many of his books have been made into movies, including Get Shorty and Out of Sight. The short story "Fire in the Hole," and three books, including Raylan, were the basis for the FX hit show Justified. Leonard received the Lifetime Achievement Award from PEN USA and the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. He died in 2013.

Unfortunately, this is not a master class. This is 10 rules with about a paragraph explanation each. I was a little disappointed to have paid $10 for such a light book. I was hoping to go a bit deeper.
If this is ever available for $.99 or even $1.99, by all means snatch it up. Pay more than that and you will probably be let down.
The ten rules are helpful for keeping your writing to the point, well-paced, concise and prevents it from sounding like writing. Compared to my writing instructor's (Fred Weihe) Creative Writing Revised there are many similarities particularly rules five, eight, nine, and ten
