Even if sometimes not very literary shaded, but entirely accurate expressed, this book makes the huge artistic personality more understandable thanks to the writer's capacity to highlight the essential aspects that influenced the man's path and the star's career.
Elvis, a moment of Art eternity, a free spirit that succeeded in getting at the highest level of appreciation, yesterday and nowadays, all over the World,to whom discovery Adrian Keller chose to devote his talent and passionate efforts, is invoked in a more successful manner as an example to follow. As a Human being rather than a musical Symbol.
For these reasons, me, as a simple reader and not only, I warmly recommend "Elvis before Graceland" that can be a wonderful experience and a unique chance to improve.

Mr Tipler has some interesting stories which humanise Elvis and you do get a definite picture of the young Elvis before he became Elvis the Icon.
I can't quite get my head around the author's repeated statement that he is not an Elvis fan, just an admirer of the way Elvis became successful. Not a fan? Hardly a cent in his pocket and going to Graceland in the middle of the night to lay a rose? Now, even I would never do that and I AM a fan!
This irritated me a little. There's some quirky language in there too as English is not the author's first language but they are quite amusing - Elvis always spilling his drinks on the "back sit" of the delivery truck for example.
A short read, fairly enlightening.
