I love how this book covers not only amazing Elvis fashion, but also the world that surrounded him; from where he lived to what he liked to eat.
And as a textile designer I really appreciate how the author covers the designers and makers who worked behind the scenes to create a style icon.
Jam packed with great photos and well written captions too, which makes it a pleasure to read!
Then a glaring error on page 108 where the author talks about Elvis' famous army haircut, but incorrectly captions the photo that it was AFTER his haircut, yet the photo shows Elvis with a full head of hair. The caption reads "in reality the army barber had taken relatively little hair off". This error is shocking since Elvis' army haircut was a significant turning point to the fans and the world and was well-documented in the press showing Presley's buzzed haircut as a result. Countless fans had pleaded in letters for them not to cut off Elvis' hair.
