Book 2 – Kilenya Series
(While I purchased this story prior to purchasing the first trilogy box set, I read this book from the box set version.)
This series is geared towards 9-12 year olds – the approximate age in which I was first discovering fantasy and science fiction reads in my elementary school library. I would definitely have enjoyed this series if it had been available back then (many, many years ago). I consider this a lighter version of epic fantasy quest – without the “grit” I find in adult-themed series.
The cast and characters of book 1 are back, with new foes to defeat. Jacob struggles to master the magical talents from before and develops new ones. No fantasy quest would be complete without a rescue of a team member, and this story does not disappoint. More exciting action scenes, and the source of Jacob’s magical powers are revealed along with other surprises! I am officially hooked on this series.
They had been looking for Jacob for 14 years. Yet, he knew nothing of it while living with his warm family in America. Until the day the wolves chased him into another world. The wolves' master wanted to use his powers and others needed his help. The magic powers that Jacob knew nothing about started showing up in this new world and remained with him even as he visited earth. Andrea's evil images and creatures are vivid, wicked and even weird. The magic in her writing draws you in further.
Needless to say, I am now a big fan of Andrea. These are a fast paced books and perfect for any age. She always sticks with the story and there is absolutely no fill in them. I give them high 5 star ratings.
