About the Author
I confess I've had a love affaire with vampires for several years now, especially warrior vampires, the kind found in the books of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian and JR Ward. Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire. For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle. For more information about my unique take on the vampire mythos, check out my website at carisroane.com and my book release video on YouTube by putting in the search phrase, Caris Roane Ascension. With every hope you'll enjoy reading my books set in the World of Ascension, All my best, Caris Roane

She doesn’t know if she has the courage to pursue a path that means giving herself body and soul to a mastyr vampire. Will she return to her normal existence in Flagstaff, Arizona? Or will she embrace the dark…
This is a very good and promising start to a new series. I very much enjoyed it overall. Gerrod and Abigail work well as a couple and complement each other. They have known each other and wanted each other for over a year when the story begins, so though things happen between them rather quickly in the story, it’s been building for over a year already. Abigail teases Gerrod and makes him smile. She takes care of him. She brings joy and more to his life. I am looking forward to reading more in this new series and world.
Abigail has been busy taking care of everyone else and living everyone else's lives. She knows that Gerrod doesn't approve of her every mannerism of him tells her that but for some reason she just keeps pushing his buttons in spite of that and just wants to see him let loose and have a little fun for once. The second she lays a finger on him (literally) both of their lives change forever.
This book was captivating from the start with a little bit of the old adage of, if a boy/girl likes you then he is mean to you and that shows you he cares, thrown in. This story of Mr. Grumpy pants meets modern day belle of the ball a bit of a throw back to the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast with it's own unique twists and turns kept me reading and not wanting to put it down until I was finished reading the entire book. I read it fairly quickly and is definitely action packed and has a bit of the classic fairy tale creatures as well,. Not everything is as it seems. If you like a bit of vampire's, trolls, fairies and everything else you can think of you will definitely like this series. Can't wait to read the rest!

Flagstaff, Arizona & Merhaine Realm
This is a world of blood-starved mastyr vampires and the rare women that can satisfy their deepest needs.
Gerrod, is the mastyr vampire of the Merhaine Realm. He never thought a human could satisfy his blood-needs. Abigail is not ordinary by any means. Gerrod is stunned by her telepathic ability not to mention the richness of her blood. Though her human DNA makes her unacceptable as a mate. Gerrod doesn’t know how to turn her away when she is the only one that can satisfy his blood-starvation for the first time in a hundred and fifty years. Abigail wonders if she will succumb to the temptation that is Gerrod and give herself to him even if he is a vampire.
Abigail’s human life is suddenly turned upside down when the Invictus, the enemy of all realm-folk, attacks a fae wedding. Now Abigail has to decide if she has the courage to pursue the path she finds herself on and that means giving herself body and soul to a mastyr vampire. She has to decide if she is going to return to her normal existence in Flagstaff or if she will embrace the dark.
This is another unique take on vampires by an author that is proving to write stories that pull the reader in and doesn’t let go until the very last page. This makes for a story that is fun and different and takes a genre and makes it fresh for readers. The story also proves to be a fast read as the reader will not want to put it down until the full story has been unveiled. It will also have readers wanting to read more about this unique and different world. This is definitely worth check out.
