About the Author
Betty Shreffler is a mix of country, nerdy, sassy, sweet and a whole lot of sense of humor. She's a fan of photography, reading, watching movies, hiking, traveling, muscle cars, drinking wine, bubblebaths and all things romantic. She lives with her amazing hubs and five furbabies; two rescue pups and three kitties. If she's not writing or doing bookevents, then you can find her behind the lens of a camera, in the woods orsipping wine behind a deliciously steamy book.

We meet Kayci Pierce who in a few short minutes life is turned upside down. She is attacked on her nightly run and saved by a mysterious man, and suddenly finds out there are vampires. When she goes on a hunt to find out more about vampires, she finds out she's part vampire and it explains so much about why she's always been so much stronger, faster, and able to heal so much quicker than anyone she has ever known. With this knowledge though, brings danger for Kayci, and puts Adrian in a difficult position, as he's the vampire hunter for the Covenant.
I really did enjoy how this book played out and all of the twists and turns. Finding out about Kayci's heritage, and exactly who and what she was, and how she came to be. What role she played in everything going on in Naples, as well as how big of a part she is about to play in the rest of this series was amazing. She is a strong character both emotionally and physically and she handles so much in this book that is is quite overwhelming. She has no fear over what she has to deal with and she takes it all in stride. Adrian though, he is in a pretty tough situation, part of the Covenant wants Kayci dead, the other half wants her to join the Covenant, and oh yeah, he's also hunting down a rogue vampire group who is also lead by a crazy vampire who he's tied to in more way's than one.
This book definitely is full of twists and turns, and had me on the edge of my seat more than once. I really enjoyed how this story played out but at times I felt all the build up was a bit anti-climatic when all was said and done. I wish the final battle would have been more big or extravagant, I was a bit disappointed in how this part of the book played out, and I was a bit disappointed in Thorne and how he handled things in this book as well.
If you're a lover of paranormal romance and vampires, then this is definitely a book you need to add to your TBR list today. I was a little weary of picking this one up, but once I got into it, I was unable to put it down. The secondary characters are all amazing as well and add to this story just as much as Kayci and Adrian. I can't wait to see where this story goes and what kind of trouble Kayci gets into next. I definitely recommend reading Embrace The Dawning by Betty Shreffler, it definitely took me by surprise!
It wasn’t until one uneventful night while she was taking a walk in the woods when Kayci got attacked and bitten by some creature and had gotten save by a total stranger. Little did Kayci realize that the dreams she’s continuously have since that traumatic and her rescuer would eventually not only lead her to answering the mystery of being the way she is, it would also bring her to her destiny of being a half-breed, yet powerful vampire sorceress.
But there’s a secret war going on involving rogue vampires and the Convenant, a war in which her savior, Adrian Spade, is heavily involved with pursuing these rogue vampires.
The attraction between these two protagonist is quite powerful, as she is now involved in a romantic relationship with a pure blood vampire. And as she now needs to assist Adrian to endure any and all immediate threats to their existence, Kayci must now make a possible life alternating decision, does she return to the life she’s been familiar with all of her life, or goes she forgo that and embrace the birthright she’s entitled to have.
For having given her readers a page turning vampire romance novel, there’s no way I can’t resist giving Ms. Shreffler 5 STARS.
