Shannon Downing has always had a rough life, now she has everything she ever dreamed of. She has the love of her life at her side. She has found the mother she thought she would never have, she is also the heiress to a multi-billion company. Now the challenge is sharing this information with everyone, going public.
After some consideration she agreed to stay at her mothers ranch in Texas. Then Shannon's world started taking turns for the worse. She hears of Maisy Field's kidnapping, with mixed emotions she fears the worst. Then she overhears a secret that could change everything.
Will Shannon be in danger when it is released to the public she is the Downing daughter? Will she be the next in line to be kidnapped? Can she keep the secret that she overheard? Is Shannon and Charlie's love strong enough to withstand anything?
"I’d been starved of his touch for so long that my body
was convulsing with need for him."
"Powerful love is the only thing that can make you weak.”
“We all have our weakness"
"For I must love because I live."
"The red rose is more about passion, whereas the white rose is a symbol of a pure love—a love that will never die.”
"It’s all in the past, and I’m looking to my future now."
"No matter the obstacles, I had to love you.”
“You’ve grown into a strong woman like your mother.”
Embrace Me was a great follow-up to Notice Me. Now that the identity of Shannon's Mr. Anonymous is revealed and truths about her past are uncovered Shannon is finally able to enjoy her life and embrace her identity. The Field family continues to be a disappointment and Shannon's identity forces her into hiding. I was thrown by the truth behind the Field families' involvement in Shannon's birth and could not believe that anyone could be so cruel.
This time around Shannon is not the only one who has secrets kept from her. Her Mr. Notice Me has been lied to as well and when Shannon finds out she's unsure if she should tell him and cause him more pain or wait till he can handle his feelings better. Of course, hiding the truth from someone never ends well. With Shannon's new life in turmoil she has a lot of decisions to make about her life and what she wants from it. What is she willing to do and who is she willing to be?
I was blown away by Mr. Anonymous's sweetness. If I didn't love him already his fairy tale like set-up made me jealous. I don't want to give away too much but Mr. Anonymous has some romantic and dreamy tricks up his sleeve.
Even after everything the Field family has done, Shannon is still the better person. She goes out of her way to help them when Maisy is missing, even though her own life is in danger. Dealing with them could not have been easy but she holds her head high and even tries to make peace with Megan. Thank the heavens for her new friend and confidant Lorna who was so easy to like and much more acceptable as a friend (at least in the true sense) than Megan.
Shannon is an absolute genius though. I will give her that. After everything she goes through she still doesn't want to lose herself. She doesn't let money overtake her or even her identity define who she is. All she wants is to live a happy life with her man away from prying eyes and kidnapping attempts. The end was fan-freakin-tastic. As a sucker for epilogues, I admit this one was just what I needed to wrap up the story. I was sad it was over but happy that everything worked out in the end. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author.
Shannon in my opinion is more pleasant now that she is concentrating more on herself and her Mr. Notice Me. I guess one could say that she has grown into her own. Not to say that she is completely over everything the Field family has put her through.
Charile is so gentle and patience. I'm lead to believe he has some second sense to know when Shannon whenever those moments come up he's always there protecting her
Embrace Me probably would not have been as enjoyable without the secondary characters. I appreciated how they were apart of everything, but did not take over.
I will say that Ms. Truley has a talent for being very thorough and detail with her story telling. Embrace Me starts off pretty much where Notice Me left off. Shannon has her Mr. Notice Me and life appears to be going well. Just when Shannon starts to settle into her new life her safety is threatening. Luckily she has an awesome support system that cares truely about her well-being.
While I was somewhat disappointed on how PG Embrace Me was Ms. Truley made up for that with the suspension and shock factor she provide.
Overall I was relieved that Shannon was about to find her happily ever after. Embrace Me is a sure read if you are a fan of drama and suspense.
