I love Daddy Drake and Trevor. I didn't quite understand the relationship between Trevor and Emerald. He is gay, but likes to kiss her? And they think of themselves as brother and sister? Ummm.. yeah. ok.
I really didn't understand why Drake kept Dom's away from Emerald. It was never explained if he was acting on someone's orders or if he was doing it on his own, but he did it for years, not just a few times. His explanation to her that she needed someone strong enough to top her didn't ring true. Who is he to decide that? I get that he is her protector/mentor, but even she thought that he didn't even discuss it with her. He just made the decision for her.
This review sounds like I didn't like the book, but I did. The plot was good. I just had some issues with how it was filled out.
There was one thing that made me angry. When she finally meets her 'one', and he wants her to be his slave and for her to call him Master, and she freaks out about it, he says they will work on it, but in the next paragraph, he makes her call him Master in the middle of sex or he won't let her orgasm. That wasn't talking about her feelings and working on it. That was coercion. It just made me feel ill.
But there was a HEA/HFN. So I went on and bought the next book. Oh, my. What was I thinking. (really feeling ill now.)
The statement above is the fundamental message in each of these amazing stories. Jenna Jacobs does an outstanding job of not only telling stories of two people finding their soulmate, she weaves in and masterfully conveys the dynamics of the BDSM lifestyle and the multiple facets of how those that live the life mold it into what makes their relationship and themselves...whole.
Embracing My Submission
Julianna, aka Emerald, struggles with her insecurities as a submissive because she has yet to be claimed by a Dom. They feed into her fears and inadequecie as a submissive and ultimately lead her to question her choice to live the lifestyle she longs for.
But all hope isn't lost; on what turns out to be the most horrific night of her life, the man of her dreams for the past few years, LITERALLY marches in to save the day.
As Julianna and Mika struggle with their pasts, they begin to open up to a love that most only dream of. With the help of her dreams, Julianna looks within herself to make a decision about her desire to ultimately submit.
"I'm not your Sir, girl. I'm your Master. Your salvation. I'm the one who will make all your naughty dreams come true. The one who will keep you safe. Treasure you. Push you to the brink of all you can endure and savor every frantic cry. Every tear. Every precious gift you shower upon me. And by God, I'll give them back to you tenfold."
This series will stay with me for a long time. Each story gave me so much more than a fantasy. It gave me an understanding of the power exchange involved in living the BDSM lifestyle. It was like an enlightenment for me. In my opinion, hese were hands down worth more than 5 stars each.
The main characters Moses aka Drake, Trevor, Sammie & Emerald are introduced right away. We learn more about them throughout the story, but this book is Emerald's story.
Emerald is a sassy, smart-mouthed submissive who yearns for a Dom to claim her. It's been 4-years of searching, waiting and denied pleasure. She is an independent woman, works as a CPA during the day and at night, welcomes members at the entrance of Genesis with Drake.
Drake is a Dom. His sub is Trevor and he's also the Daddy Dom to Emerald. Trevor is Emerald's "brother" within the Genesis family. Mika, an extremely private & wealthy man owns Genesis. He watches over his club from the comforts of office via video monitors and regular check-in from staff & security personal.
Sammie is a Domme, lead bartender at Genesis and the only person at Genesis to scene with Emerald.
