A Kid's Review on March 1, 2012
Format: Kindle Edition
This review was written by my 12 year old son:
I could hardly wait for school to end! But it finally did and for two evenings straight all I did was read the Emerald Quest. I didn't realize until the end of the book that I was sore from sitting on the edge of my seat! I stayed up until my mom insisted it was time for bed(thank goodness she extended my bedtime, otherwise I might have dropped dead from the suspense!) Not only was there treasure hunting, but it also has mystery, both of which I have been hooked on for a long time. Ive already told my friends about it. Until the next book comes out, I'll just read this one over and over again. Thanks for writing it!

Noah Winter's parents have an awesome job. They are treasure hunters! But, now, they have been kidnapped! Noah and Anthony (Noah's parent's assistant) think they know who did it, but they have no evidence. Noah and Anthony decide to finish the mission (the latest treasure hunt) his parents were on when they were kidnapped in hopes of finding the treasure map that reveals the location of the valuable De La Rosa emerald and more importantly, Noah's mom and dad! Diabolical enemies, a Burmese Python, scuba diving, pirates, shipwrecks, ghosts, you think a 13-year old like Noah would be tired out after all this, nope!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book because of the adventure and excitement in it. I REALLY liked Noah as a main character! He was an awesome guy. He was brave, smart, kind and very adventurous. The story is a type I like very much and I think this would be a great book for reluctant boy readers. The book was a quick read for me (maybe because it was so exciting) and there isn't any bad language in it. There is some mild violence, but nothing graphic or upsetting.

Noah and his family are treasure hunters, and someone has hired them to find a certain emerald. This is a case that they've been working on, and during the quest, someone kidnaps Noah's parents, and wants the emerald too, and the secrets that go with it , and will do anything to get it, even if it means killing Noah and his parents. Noah soon finds that there's no help coming, and it's up to him to save himself and his family.

This really is a good read that has a lot of adventure to it. To be honest, I expected this to be a cute lil light hearted story....I was wrong, and glad I was. This has a few plot twits, and Noah has to get out of read danger. This has a lot of action and adventure to it

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I saw this books cover and was interested because of the Scuba diving in the book. I got a free copy as well.

This book is meant for young teens and therefore my expectations were not high. This was a good quick read that, in general, had a good fast pace and had a decent plot.

There were some really hard to believe elements in the book, but being aimed at teens I was able to suspend most of my disbelief. I will say that the author is either not a scuba diver themselves or is not very experienced. Some of the word choices and descriptions just wouldn't be used by someone who had any serious diving experience. For example, the average diver uses regular air underwater, not oxygen. That said, it's a good read.

I confess. I am actually a middle aged woman. And I loved this book! As a younger incarnation I read Biggles, The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Willard Price, etc. this book reminded me of all those happy times. I liked the fact that the protagonist was believable (he actually had to do school work!) and vulnerable (he bleeds) and does not act as the hero all on his own, and there are repercussions. All this makes the story more realistic. Add to that the fact that the simple but elegant prose just caught me up and swept me along and you have one good read. Another positive was the contemporary social and ecological aspect of the book, very nice. And I also like a good villain in my books! To my mind I pick up a lot about an author through their children's writing, and this just left me wanting to read more. I now have a stock pile of books on my iPad Kindle app just waiting for my attention :-) Thank you Renee.

Super suspense and adventure on land, sea and beneath the ocean will keep you turning pages till you wrap this baby up!

Noah and his diving parents search for a lost emerald, a family heirloom for their friend lost 200 years ago and perhaps in the Florida Keys. Will they find it before their rivals hired by a nearby billionaire? Or will they lose this treasure as they have lost one already to him?

I do not usually read books geared to young people but I did this time because of my liking of Renee Pawlish's writing. I have to say the story was very good and I have recommended it to some adults as well as the younger generation. Surprisingly well done and fits all generations for interest... not childish at all.

Really enjoyed this book. Easy reading, good character development. I found the underwater treasure hunting kind of a youngsters "Indiana Jones". My only complaint might be that I wish it was longer. A good, fairly quick read. Thoughourly enjoyable.
