About the author

Dennis William Hauck is an author, consultant, and lecturer working to facilitate personal and planetary transformation through the application of the ancient principles of alchemy. He writes and lectures on the universal principles of physical, psychological, and spiritual transformation to a wide variety of audiences that range from scientists and business leaders to religious and New Age groups. Hauck's interest in alchemy began while he was still in graduate school at the University of Vienna, where he was initiated into the craft by a practicing alchemist from Prague.
According to Dr. Bernard Lightman in A Companion to the History of Science: "Dennis William Hauck is a prolific author and has been at the center of efforts to institutionalize modern alchemy through a number of organizations, conferences, and journals. For Hauck, classical science has its limits, in that it can explain only our physical reality, not the deeper hidden reality from which the physical stems. He decided that alchemy offered one path to that hidden reality, and so, knowing that this path of discredited ‘pseudoscience’ might forever taint his career, Hauck decided it was worth the risk to discover solid evidence and challenge the dominant Newtonian paradigm."
David Metcalfe, editor of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Consciousness Studies, writes: "According to Dennis William Hauck, a contemporary practicing alchemist and author of numerous books on the subject, some of the giants of twentieth-century science, mathematics, and philosophy – such as Max Planck, Kurt Godel, and Ludwig Wittgenstein – rather than dispelling the alchemical worldview have actually helped bring contemporary theory in line with the ancient art in its exposition as a practical outgrowth of Neoplatonic and Hermetic cosmology. Hauck points out that Einstein proved an ancient tenet of alchemy that was previously unknown in physics: the fundamental idea that ‘All Is One’ and the equivalence between energy and matter. Einstein’s equation of the universe is E = Mc2, where E is energy, M is mass, and c is the speed of light. This is a mathematical restatement of the ancient Three Essentials concept of the alchemists in which Sulfur is energy, Salt is mass or matter, and Mercury represents light."
Hauck has translated a number of important alchemy manuscripts dating back to the fourteenth century and has published over a dozen books on the subject. His "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Alchemy" (Penguin Alpha 2008) is considered the best introduction to alchemy available today, and his "The Emerald Tablet: Alchemy for Personal Transformation" (Penguin 1999) presents Hauck's original research about the mysterious artifact that inspired over 3,000 years of alchemy. His "Sorcerer's Stone: A Beginner's Guide to Alchemy" (Penguin Citadel 2004) is an entertaining introduction to practical and spiritual alchemy. He is currently working on a sequel to "The Emerald Tablet" entitled "Secret Science of the Emerald Tablet: The Spiritual Chemistry of Alchemy."
His books have been featured in USA Today, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Harper's, and hundreds of other periodicals. He has been interviewed on over 300 radio and TV programs, including "NPR's Morning Edition," "Sally Jessy Raphael," "Geraldo," "The O'Reilly Factor," "Extra," and "CNN Reports."
Hauck holds lectures and workshops throughout the world on the various aspects of practical, mental, and spiritual alchemy. He is founder of the International Alchemy Conference (AlchemyConference.com), an instructor in alchemy (AlchemyStudy.com), and is president of the International Alchemy Guild (AlchemyGuild.org). His websites are Alchemergy.org, AlchemyLab.com, and DWHauck.com.
Hauck is a professional member of the ASSC (Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness), the AMS (American Mathematical Society), CRS (Center for Research in Science), ATP (Association for Transpersonal Psychology), and ISSSEEM (International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine).

When you actually get to what you're "supposed" to do to progress through the 7 stages of alchemy, you realize that in reality it's just basic yoga! Alchemy is essentially a hyper-left brained western occultist practice with a love for chemistry metaphors. If you're interested in the asthetics of it, go on ahead. If you're looking for practical and efficient progression in your spiritual practices, then just go to meditation/yoga instead of wading through the mire of riddles, metaphors, symbolism, and nonsense alchemists love to spout to aggrandize their beliefs into somthing more fantastic and wonderful than it really is.
Seriously, this book is just going to give you poor instructions on meditations from a ufo nerd that is not very far progressed in it. It's nice if you want to learn more about alchemy for your own personal cultural enrichment, but I wouldn't expect much in the form of occult transformation from it. Just my 2 cents.

A really good for someone wanting to learn more about Alchemy, or looking to improve themselves.
