About Emily Senecal
Emily Senecal is originally from Davis, California, and continues to live in Northern California. Her first favorite books were "Anne of Green Gables" and "The Secret Garden," leading to a lifelong love of reading. She began writing novels in a dark period in her life, now fortunately ended, inspired by the much-battered Mary Stewart, Georgette Heyer, Patricia Wentworth and Elizabeth Cadell paperbacks that have moved with her from home to home over the years.
Her published work includes 14 novels of romantic suspense/adventure and one novel.
From the author:
As is true for many storytellers, my books don't really fit into any one genre, so it's hard to categorize them as traditional mysteries or thrillers or romances. Instead, they're bingeable novels with a taste of crime and suspense, some sweet flutters of romance, and a focus on authentic character development and relationships. If you like Laurie R. King. Mary Stewart or Stephenie Meyer, I think you'll enjoy my books.

Blog postThese are slow times in my marketing and writing, as I work through editing a manuscript and feel less than inspired to think of ways to publicize my work on social media or to set up new deals or promotions. Both inwardly (creatively) and outwardly (outreach to readers), I’m in a down cycle.
Editing always tends to slow things down for me; it’s an important and ultimately gratifying slog, but a slog all the same. The better I get at editing, the longer it takes, and the better the en1 month ago Read more -
Blog post2020 has been a lot of things… heartbreaking and shattering, upsetting and overwhelming, scary and confusing, inspirational and innovative and hopeful… giving us much to worry about and to mourn, many achievements to celebrate and embrace, and many things we’re glad to leave behind.
As the year winds down and our winter officially begins, for anyone who’d like to settle in on the couch under a blanket with a nice whiskey-laden nog (or hot cocoa, or tea, or wine, or possibly just whisk4 months ago Read more -
Blog postIt’s been an incredibly strange time for all of us, strange and complicated and challenging, defined by fear, uncertainty, isolation, unity, unexpected blessings and unplanned burdens. In the first month or so of shelter in place, I found it difficult to get my scattered thoughts down in my journal, much less to work on any new fiction projects. One day I had a wild few hours of inspiration, several pages’ worth, and then it petered out. I have a major revision waiting on my latest book draft10 months ago Read more

Blog postToward the end of 2019, I got really productive and finished two first drafts, which was gratifying, and then started editing them, which is painstaking, and began to think about marketing, which is downright painful.
And now here I am, writing a post to remind myself why this part needs to happen.
After I came back from a trip to Honolulu last August, I started working on a sequel to my January 2019 release Spiders in a Dark Web. I had another story to tell about the characte1 year ago Read more -
Blog postThere’s nothing like a good binge. We watched Season 3 of “Stranger Things” in about two days and it was glorious. But when I think of life’s most satisfying binges, reading has a slight edge over TV and movies, maybe because it existed for me long before Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, or even DVD box sets. For decades, if I wanted to curl up and really dive in, the options were limited to books.

Blog postAfter a December and January of intensive book marketing and back-to-back paperback releases, I fell back, somewhat exhausted, into my safe, familiar routine of writing and editing. The only downside to being an indie author, as far as I’m concerned, is that unless you hire professionals, you have to be your own marketing team and publisher—and if, like me, you’re not especially good at the publicity and business side of things, your books might not sell a whole lot.

When Megan Hofflin steps aboard the night ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki, she has no idea that the course of her life is about to change. Enter Allegra, a beautiful woman who collapses into Megan's arms -- and Allegra's dour yet strangely appealing companion, Cai. The pair is shrouded in strain and mystery, a mystery into which Megan is inevitably drawn. Nothing like this has ever happened to her, but she can't seem to resist their charm -- or ignore their obvious fear.
Suddenly rational Megan must try to make sense of the bizarre and terrifying events happening all around her, as well as her oddly intense feelings for Cai, as they race from Finland to Denmark on a wild chase for a valuable object with unknown enemies closing in on every side.
A bingeable romantic suspense for fans of Mary Stewart and Stephenie Meyer. The sixth book in the series, can also be read as a standalone story.
