3.5 stars really

It's hard to imagine so many things going wrong for a woman written to be intelligent. Emily was thrown about by the tide of the bar patrons where she played piano -- and, by the way, what is so shameful about that??? It's NYC, and Emily wasn't selling her body, for goodness' sake! When things went wrong with her employment, Emily seemed unable to stand up for herself. This is a young woman insistent on making it on her own, without her family's help?? Then stand up for yourself!

She accepts a job with Marco, and goes on a business trip with him and charms everyone. They are intimate together very quickly. The relationship continues at home, while Emily has enough backbone to maintain the appearance of independence at work, going to work, leaving work. A mutual friend accidentally outs her real identity -- suddenly Marco is so betrayed! That was a bit melodramatic. The make up was good, and so was the thawing of Marco's heart initially. But in general, it wasn't a really deep character development, and not entirely consistent either. But it was fine. It was chocolate to me; not nourishing, but I liked it while it lasted.

The heroine of the book, Emily, came across to me as a ditzy airhead and I couldn't quite understand what Marco saw in her apart from the obvious thing a man sees in a woman. We were told that she was an academic, held a minor in philosophy, spoke four languages including Chinese and was a Phi Beta Kappa yet nothing in the book would have proved that. I am a Sandra Marton fan and liked her previous books in the series about the Wilde brothers, but this was a disappointment.

While this is a great addition to the series, but if I'm honest.... it was a little bit of a let down after just reading the story about Travis & Jennie. But then again; it's going to take one heck of a book to top that one, at least for me it will anyway. Don't get me wrong, this is a very, very good story. I do wish that there was a little bit more interaction with Emily's family then there was, though. I know that they were there in the end for her, but I would have liked a little more of them throughout the story. In the stories that involved the brothers, all the siblings had more interaction with one another than this one did. I know, just call me picky. LOL! It was also nice to see Khan & Laurel show up in this story. I don't remember them showing up in any other of the other three books in this series. So it was really nice to catch up with them, although it was just briefly. I curious to know, if they'll be embarking on their own heir to the throne soon.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, I certainly would.

Oh my gosh, this main character Emily is insufferable. She's so pathetic & dumb I cant stand it. The author clearly doesn't know what a plot is. I mean, life is not easy going & reading this was just annoying.

I remember reading the boxed set that was about the brothers but as I read this one, I began wondering why this one was one my wish list (I do this when I watch the prices of books I'm interested in). This book is about Emily (baby sister to the Wilde boys) and Marco. The attraction and kissing came way too early for me. I rolled my eyes a few times because of something that happened. I kept telling myself it's the typical cheesy romance novel. The last half of the book isn't so cheesy and I enjoyed that half. I probably paid 99 cents for the book.....I won't by the next one because I have a ton more books to try.

I didn't get very far. I hate it when a story is down and it just keeps going down further and further and further. I am totally depressed before we can even get to the good part. I don't feel sympathy, I just feel blah. So I quit. I did go back and read some of the reviews and it seems at least one reviewer felt the same as I did but said to get beyond that and it would get better. But then it seems she starts the next phase with a lie and that brings her down again. I just decided to give up. Obviously lots liked it, so I would suggest you give it a try, get past the first part that is so down and then see where it takes you.

I lied the idea of this book but the main character came off more as a complaining annoying person then an intelligent woman trying to make it on her own. As for the hero, well he too seemed annoying. More depth n characters was definitely needed, but it was an ok, fast, free read. If another selection by the author comes up as free on Amazon I will read to see if the characters are written better, if not don't know if I would actually pay to read another by Ms Marton.

While I did enjoy the book because it was easy to read, the plot was too thin in places. A supposedly well-educated intelligent young woman comes across as a real airhead. She's so clever that she can walk into an executive position and carry it off but she's slumming it and unable to get a job before that - um duh?!?
If you look past the silliness I guess it's not a bad story - at least it flows and keeps the reader interested.
