Themes of anxiety, identity, mental health, and the human condition run throughout the albums 11 songs. They are consistently intricate and intimate, but draw from a multitude of influences, reflecting the multi-instrumentalists' diverse tastes. To understand the symbiosis that exists between Ider, you need only learn how the London duo's debut album got it's name. "It came from a song that I had written," says Megan Markwick, referring to the raw electro-pop anthem 'Saddest Generation', a beautiful examination of millennial malaise. "But then Lily had put in that lyric - 'Where's the emotional education we're all looking for?' And it was a penny drop moment. It's such a perfect example of the way we work, this partnership that is all entangled." "Emotional Education is what we give each other," adds Lily Somerville, "and what we're going to give you with this album."

IDER have piqued the interest of many with "You've got your whole life ahead of you baby" which has already received substantial airplay and multi million hits on the major streaming sites so this album has been highly anticipated. And I am pleased that it does not disappoint. I immediately hit the "buy" button after hearing it in full for the first time and I am glad that I did. This is lo fi electo pop with sensible lyrics and vocals that weave in and out of each other nicely to create a sound that is new and fresh. I really hope that IDER are as successful as they deserve, they certainly have the talent and the style to go far.
Other strong tracks are 'You've Got Your Whole Life Ahead of You Baby', 'Body Love', 'Mirror' and 'Saddest Generation' - all of which deal with issues (depression, mental health, stress, body image) that under Ider's gaze are universal and relatable. There's a lovely sense in which it feels like Ider are 'on the listener's side' - this isn't a lecture, it's a sharing of experiences and an invitation for us all to feel better.
The music, vinyl, artwork, download code... all top notch. 5 stars!
